lO2 is a week old and I'm already supplementing with formula. DS goes to school 2x a week, so it's a bit of a challenge on the days he is home with me. I'm going to do my best. Thanks for sharing!

LO2 is just over 10 months and I've EPed since the start due to latch and transfer issues. I'm at 3 pumps a day and staring to think about dropping to 2 since we are so close to one year (and I don't see myself going too much past!) I never thought I would make this long!!

It was doable for me because LO1 was still in full time child care even during my maternity leave and old enough (at 3) to understand when mommy couldn't do something as easily while pumping. I also had DH do night time feedings while I pumped which made a huge difference in the early weeks.

That said, my first was totally formula fed by 8 months due to low supply so I totally agree it doesn't have to be all it nothing.

Good luck and feel free to wall me anytime!

@Alba4: how old is your LO2? We had tongue tie and latch issues with our LO2 and I basically EP'd for the first six weeks. (Lo1 was at daycare during the day.) I was worried about maintaining pumping but we were able to reestablish nursing around 6 weeks. It was such a relief! And we are now almost to the one year mark!

@HappyBaker: oh yes - I should probably add that my DD1 went to daycare 3x a week which helped a ton, so it was really only 2x a week that I was EPing on my own with a toddler running around.

I did but my older one went back to daycare eventually so it wasn't as hard during the day anymore! I 100% relied on TV, I'd put on half an episode of something and just pump for that long. I couldn't keep her still / safe without TV. Good luck, and agree it doesn't have to be all or nothing, you could just keep pumping at the times that are easiest for you and use formula to supplement.

I did (I also used some formula for convenience, low supply). It was hard in the beginning but once I was able to drop down to 4x a day, around 8 weeks, it was manageable. The hardest part was obviously pumping with a 2 year old running around so I tried to avoid it as much as I could. I pumped in the am before she woke up, during her nap, when DH came home from work, and after she went to bed. Eventually I learned to pump and feed at the same time which was also helpful (though not pretty lol )

I haven't, but remember it isn't all or nothing. You can pump some and formula feeding some. I'd try and stick with it until your supply regulates. Then I'd try and pump when both kids are sleeping. Maybe at 10pm, 6 am, 10am, 2pm and 7pm at first, then drop the 10am session. Good luck!

I exclusively pumped for LO1 due to latching issues. My LO2 is having similar issues. Despite having frenulectomies, both babies have had issues eating from my breast. I'm unsure of whether or not I'll be able to exclusively pump with a very active almost 3-year-old.

Were you able to pump regularly with 2+ kids? Any tips before I give up? Thanks!
