You've already had lots of great replies, and my experience was pretty similar. I had asked my doctor if I could do yoga and she said no, I wouldn't want to get a twisted ovary. That scared me enough that I took it really easy! She told me I could walk a mile or less at an easy pace. By the end of the stimming cycle, I felt so bloated that I wasn't comfortable doing much of anything.

@Mrs Green Grass: Thank you! I probably won't but at this point I didn't really know what to expect.

Honestly, I doubt you'll feel like working out. I think you should be able to do what you feel like you can. Bouncing and twisting are the real issues.

@Jenn23: Thanks :) I always feel guilty when I don't exercise but I am just going to need to get over it for this. Cut myself some slack.

I didn't do anything at all. I was too fearful to do anything. But I believe walking should be fine and basically whatever your body has been accustomed to within reason, minus running or high impact exercise. Really, just take it easy. :)

@Sunshine1810: yeah and i wouldnt do like "speed walking" just regular walking. They said the issue is that your ovaries are swollen and sensitive and you cant be "bouncing around" at all.

I cant stand to not exercise and this news was very annoying to me as well.

@Leialou: Thanks for sharing your experience! I have never been through IVF so I have no idea how I'll feel, but it completely makes sense that I may not feel up to exercise at all. I am definitely going to take time off during the 10 days after transfer. If this cycle doesn't work, I really don't want to look back and think it was something I did. :(

I walked during my IVF cycle. You're stimulating your ovaries so you're at risk for ovarian torsion if you overdo the exercise.

When I was doing my fresh cycle I didn't work out at all. I was scared of hurting one of my ovaries because they were stretching while growing all the eggs. My RE also told me not to. ETA: towards the end of stimming I wouldn't have worked out even if I could. I was very uncomfortable. Just walking and getting up from sitting was enough to make me grab my back and wince.

I'm doing a FET cycle right now and will continue to work out until transfer. Then I will take 10 days off until I know the outcome. If I'm pregnant I'll go back to working out, just at a scaled level.

I basically did nothing except walk during stimming, and very little post transfer. The exercise restrictions were one of my least favorite aspects of fertility treatments.

I'll stick with the walking...

I am set to start injections for our IVF cycle in just under two weeks and wanted to get some feedback about working out while you are going through IVF.

The nurse at my RE's office told me no high impact exercise, and I am going to ask more specific questions about that at my next appointment, but I know I shouldn't run, etc.

My typical workout consists of 40 minutes of fast walking on the treadmill, and then strength training for 30 minutes (with the machines). I know the weights/machines are probably not the best idea (especially crunches), but what about the speed walking? I am not running, but I am walking very quickly.

What did you all do for exercise during your IVF cycle(s)?
