@pachamama: that is awesome! I am kicking myself for not being more active before my bfp.

@mrsjd: I am considering a hr monitor actually - anything that gives me data just makes me feel better, even if it's not toally necessary.

@irunforfun: yes - I can take a seat further back and not go as fast or lower the resistance. Luckily I have been enough time now too that I know which instructors are like "I SEE YOU!" and put the pressure on the keep up and which ones are more chill.

@psw27: luckily no morning sickness so far! Actually just been feeling extremely hungry all the time, which isn't so bad!

Thanks for your input everyone :)

I think the 'listen to your body' approach sounds great. However I am not a good athlete and literally going for a walk to the store has my body going "ugghhh" haha! But I get what you mean.

@Mrs. Blush: I exercised intensely from the day I conceived (spin class, long hikes, runs) til the morning I gave birth. It kept me sane!. I kept my HR high too, 140-155 regularly. Baby was fine and I had a wonderful pregnancy.

If I was you, I'd get a heartrate monitor and keep an eye on it. I did Crossfit until I was 37 weeks pregnant and was still lifting weight as heavy as I did before. I hit some PRs in my third trimester. But I had been doing this program for a year and half prior and I was careful to drink a ton of water and watch my heartrate to make sure it didn't stay high. My doctor was super encouraging of this. If you weren't super active before starting SoulCycle (or don't have a consistent level of fitness), I'd err on the side of caution. And lots of water is a must always!

I would just see how you feel doing it. Lower the intensity like others said and see how you feel. If it feels like too much, or it makes you feel nervous, then just see if you can find something else you're more comfortable with.
In my frist pregnancy, I had been doing crossfit for a few months. I was going to keep at it, but it just felt like it was way too much, so I completely stopped it. Now, in my third pregnancy, I feel much more comfortable with my limits so have continued it throughout.

@Mrs. Blush: During both pregnancies I chose to err on the side of caution. If it felt too intense for me I would slow down or cut back

I'd just back off the intensity when you're not feeling it. Most likely your perceived intensity will go up, even though your actual intensity will stay the same (or, eventually, decrease).

For my current pregnancy, I got a BFP during marathon training and continued to train and run it (at 16w). But I definitely adjusted a lot of runs/workouts to what I could handle on any given day, made sure to have more food/drink during & after the workouts, and my race plan went out the window -- I was prepared to run the whole thing, walk if I needed to, or even just drop out if anything felt off.

Is Soul Cycle like spin, where you can lower the intensity if needed? If so, I'd continue to go but just lower the intensity if you feel yourself getting overheated or you feel like your heart rate is too high. I ran in my first trimester, just slowed it down and took walk breaks and drank extra water!

I was told to continue everything I was doing before, and listen to my body. Minimize jumping, and start to reduce the amount of ab and core work I was doing before.

My doctor was a big proponent of just listening to your body. She didn't really give me a lot of restrictions around exercising. I continued to exercise like normal for probably the first two trimesters until I started getting huge and tired, haha. I think I kept spinning until about 24ish weeks? I worked out until the end of pregnancy, just decreased intensity a little in the third tri. I think that really helped me to feel relatively good throughout pregnancy.

I"m firmly in the "listen to your body" camp. You'll know pretty quickly if you need to back off! That being said, the first trimester can just be hard for exercise, so if you find yourself too exhausted/nauseous to workout, don't be discouraged! you can always ease back into things in the second trimester when you are feeling better.

Unless your doctor has put you on restriction or you feel unwell while exercising (dizzy, overheated), I wouldn't worry about it. I went to a few spin classes when pregnant with DD and just made sure to drink plenty of water and not try to push myself too hard (mainly I would just slow down/stop if I started to feel dizzy).

If you get to a point where you don't feel comfortable spinning, I found swimming while pregnant to be a good compromise (and it felt awesome).

In my opinion, which is not medical, I think you should just listen to your body. Keep your heart rate from getting too high, stay hydrated and keep going for a long as you feel good doing so. I was doing a lot of spin classes when I got my BFP and I kept it up -- until morning sickness kicked my butt harddddd. So I listened to my body and stopped going for a while but I might pick it back up (albeit at a much slower/lower intensity) this week now that I feel a bit more alive.

I think it's about over heating and having your heart rate too high. My OB takes the position that you listen to your body. Me personally? I cut back while pregnant.

Hello!

I started doing Soul Cycle this month. I've been to three classes so far, about one a week. I am 14 DPO today with a BFP since 11DPO.

All the reading I am doing on exercising while in the first trimester says you can keep exercising "if you did it before pregnancy." Does this mean I should be doing something less intense than Soul Cycle? I love it and really want to continue! But it's a really intense workout for me.
