Sorry for your loss. I had a d&e 3 months ago at 23 weeks and still feel drained. I think im depressed on top of it though. I hope you recover quicker than me!

@LCTBQE: Thank you - I'd missed this one, this is super helpful! The past month has been a lot of waiting - for the heart to stop, for the D&E, etc - and hoping to feel better, your post has me definitely looking forward to my first post-loss period.

@Shantuck: I've felt like a mess hormonally, so this could definitely be a part of it. When I went off birth control about a year ago I also felt kind of blah - though other issues and not exhaustion - and probiotics seemed to fix it, so I've been trying to incorporate lots of those in my diet...

Maybe your hormones are trying to regulate themselves and it's just taking some time. I know it took me a little time to feel normal (though in a different way than you described - terrible breakouts, poorer quality sleep, etc). Hope you start to turn the corner soon.

@StrawberryBee: That sounds like so much work, but also like you've made a lot of progress already. :goodluck: :goodluck: with the packing and house hunting and appraisal. I hope it is all done and you're relaxing in a new place soon!

@periwinklebee: yeah, I felt fine and normal right away, but I'm sure everyone's different. Still trying to find a house 😞. Working through the packing, but it's hard when I don't feel like doing anything. Five inspections done, $2300 needed to bring the chimney up to code, appraisal is tomorrow. I hope your energy starts to come back!

@Kemma: glad you're through it, hope you feel better soon!

@StrawberryBee: Thank you  I've been lucky in that the cramping wasn't bad, the bleeding wasn't too heavy, and knock on wood, no infection. But I wasn't expecting to still feel so tired and run-down more than a week out. The doctor made it sound like I would feel physically fine right away, but hopefully I just need to give my body some extra rest and iron and nutrients and that will happen soon enough. I hope that things are going well for you and that the move hasn't been too crazy!

@Kemma:  I'm glad the miscarriage is finally over for you, and I really hope you start feeling less wiped out soon as well. Sending you lots of good vibes.

@catlady: I hadn't even thought of that. I will ask my doctor about it at the next appointment. I'm sorry for your losses.

@Mrs. Sunshine: I'm so sorry you had to go through that, it sounds completely miserable.

@AprilFool: I remember seeing your post when I was googling for it and thinking "I guess it's good that this seems to be a normal thing." I'm really glad you got your energy back eventually.

I went through something like this (although not directly after miscarrying, more like a few weeks later). I think it just ended up being a weird virus but my doctor tested my thyroid because apparently hypothyroidism causes exhaustion (as well as miscarriages, and I had had 3 of them by that point). So maybe look into getting that tested? Hope you feel better soon.

@mrsbubbletea: Thanks, I should look for the old threads on types of iron. And probably just go see my PCP if it doesn't resolve soon - I have a feeling this is more up their ally. In a past life as a competitive runner, I had various issues with anemia - I think I'm prone to it - and what ultimately worked best I think was the liquid iron. It is pretty gross, though.

@periwinklebee: Ugh thats weird. Maybe its just preemptive. Either way, it would be nice to know...if its particularly low and they just assumed it would get back to normal, but you still feel symptomatic, it might need to be followed more closely. Also, I know some people have better luck with other types of iron, better absorption. Ive seen plenty of threads on here about that. Just seems like this might be making your recovery harder

@mrsbubbletea: I noticed on my discharge report in the instructions at the end it said to take iron. The doctor apparently came and talked to me about discharge instructions but I have absolutely no recollection of this conversation - I must have been completely out of it from GA. I called the nurse and she said that the doctor does want me taking iron.

I would like to know exactly what my CBC is - you can request to access your patient records online and I'm still waiting for them to send me the pin number by mail to do that....I'm also going to ask if they can do another CBC at my post-op appt on Fri.

@Coral: Thank you  I'm sure the emotional side of things doesn't help - and the hormonal mood swings have definitely been exhausting - but beyond that I also feel unusually tired when I do physical tasks, like climbing stairs or doing the laundry. I'm pretty sure the iron will fix it soon enough, but I'm super impatient.

I hope you are having a good weekend! Here it feels like summer, despite being February, which is pretty awesome - it is making me daydream about summer and going to the beach

Sorry if this is completely out of left field, but could you possibly be experiencing depression? That would be a completely natural reaction after such a difficult loss (especially with all the hormonal changes) and would absolutely affect your energy level.

I had a D&E about a week ago at 10 weeks. I have been completely exhausted since the procedure - not just sleepy but it takes a ton of energy to get up and do anything, and it has seemed to get worse. The doctor said to take iron supplements, which I've been doing for a few days with OJ to aid absorption.

I'm curious how long it took others to feel normal physically after a loss. I was pretty anemic years ago, and I vaguely remember it taking awhile for the iron supplements to kick in. I have been trying to eat super healthy in hopes of speeding recovery along, but I know the name of the game - as always with TTC - is probably just patience.
