I'm curious too! I am going next Monday to get allergy testing done for the first time, but I've been suffering for forever, even taking Singulair, Claritin, and Nasonex. So I'll be curious how it goes! I guess they are doing the prick testing.

@Mrs. Jacks: That's really it. If I use a new makeup or skin product, I might get eczema flareups after. This Zyrtec is a mess though. It's almost like it's suppressed the little immunity I had in me so now that I stopped it, my body went into overdrive. I sneezed for probably a total of 3 hours this weekend, lol. My husband is suppose to monitor it after in case I have a delayed reaction. I really hope this brings some answers though. If I have to avoid certain foods or products to prevent reactions, I will because the reactions are not cute!

@LindsayInNY: Ah, you are incredibly atopic. My fear is that you will flare (and do it quickly) to just about everything. Your immune system is really ramped up, it sounds like. Good luck with the testing. I hope it brings needed answers.

@Mrs. Jacks: I've been having constant eczema flareups around my mouth and eyes for a couple of years now. I don't know what's causing it but we think it's a contact dermatitis problem. I know I have a TON of environmental allergies (did prick test in spring of 2011) and mom and sister both have food allergies so we don't know if that's it. I've been on Zyrtec daily for 2 1/2 years, partially for oral allergy syndrome, and was miserable stopping it this weekend for the testing. I think I'm a bit better now (not sneezing non-stop, etc.). I've been resistant to allergy shots though since we've been actively TTC. So basically we're trying everything and anything at this point.

@Mrs. Jacks: Oh geez. Good to know in case something overreacts right away. I'm having the prick test done this week. Patch testing is after Thanksgiving. After the 3 visits, my husband is suppose to monitor any reaction for a week after. This should be fun...

Yup... it really itches after a while! I should say that there are different durations as well. I did some for an inpatient recently and we only did a few hours before we had to remove the patch because it was so reactive.

@Mrs. Jacks: Yeah but its a couple day process? I get them applied on Tuesday, removed on Thursday and checked and checked again on Friday...

Does anyone have experience with allergy patch testing? I've done the skin prick testing before but never the patch testing. I'm curious what to expect!
