My girl loves tunnels and trains and bridge pieces and doesn't really play with those extra pieces like trees or houses so the ikea one is perfect. They see heavy use. They're just wooden, and so far they're like new. I expect them to hold up. </p> <p>That PB set is cute - it has a lot of fun stuff that the ikea one doesn't, so I might get it just for that reason. If I were you, I might get that one, and then get ikea stuff to add on in terms of more tracks and such. We bought the figure 8 track just to see if he liked trains enough to buy a bigger set and it's been a hit! It's super awesome quality and we've had it over a year. I see no difference between the ikea set and the other majors brands that I've seen/played with that friends and family have. We are thinking about getting DD a little train set as part of her Christmas and DH is pushing for this one.
