@KT326: thank you for the info! Fortunately today I've been exiled to our room and bathroom. I barely even ate anything from the kitchen. I'll be sure to Lysol and use lots of hand sanitizer for a few days!

It could be a 24 hour bug. We had one hit on Thanksgiving a few years ago when LO was 8 months old. He got it first and then almost 24 hours later I got it. Lasted almost exactly 24 hours for both of us. Somehow DH didn't get it but a friend who visited us 2 days after I was feeling better got it.

I would just make sure to disinfect anything you touch just in case it isn't food poisoning.

@ShootingStar: @muffinsmuffins: Thank you for your input!

The only thing I can think of that I had in the evening that no one else did is a candy bar 😳 I guess it's possible?
My stomach still feels gurgly but I have no urges from either end. 😆 Getting down some soup and sprite.

If this helps, DW had something similar recently that started in the night on a Friday and was horrible for 24 hours almost exactly. I thought I was safe as she stayed away from us the whole weekend practically. I had no symptoms until the following Wednesday morning when I woke at 5 am with a milder version of what she had. DS did not get it thank goodness. I hope it's food related for you guys!

@SweetiePie: DH had food poisoning a while ago and the dr told us it must've been from dinner because lunch was too many hours before he started throwing up. I can't remember how many hours it was though, which is why I suggested you call your dr and get their input.

Hope you feel better!

@ShootingStar: I think it might have been my lunch yesterday. We all had the same dinner.
I feel a lot better now and ready to eat but still taking it slow.

Could something you ate at dinner have made you sick? If so, given the timing and duration it sounds like food poisoning. I think a stomach bug would make you feel sicker, longer. You might want to call your doctor though.

Last night I woke up around 3am with awful diarrhea and vomiting. I was up every half hour or so doing one or the other.
The diarrhea continued this morning but has improved. The vomiting started back up though - I puked 3 times in an hour and had AWFUL heartburn. It felt like I was having a heart attack. Haven't done either for about 2 hours. Ate rice and apple sauce and feel a ton better. Still sick, but not miserable.

My question - when is it safe to say it's likely something I ate vs a contagious bug? I definitely ate a few thing yesterday that neither LO or DH had. They both are fine so far. But I've stayed away from LO all day today just in case.
For those with experience, if DH and LO are both still fine tomorrow AM is it ok to assume it was food related and just be really really careful with him? If not I need to ask my MIL to come in or my husband take the day off.

ETA: my son did start preschool this week a couple mornings a week. So I still wonder if I got it from there - but he seems fine.
