@kodybear: Yeah I hope it doesn't cause more issues either. This pregnancy has just been one scary thing after another. Glad to hear you didn't have to go on complete bedrest although that must have been stressful wondering if your cervix was going to keep shortening. And that must have been so hard with your toddler and the no heavy lifting restriction. This is my 2nd pregnancy too - I have a daughter who will be 2 pretty soon and I've been struggling with not carrying her. Its really sad. I guess after my ultrasound my doctor will decide what kind of bedrest I need to be on. I don't think I can work from home, but I have a desk job so hopefully I can still get some work done.

@tiramisu: oh no! i'm glad they found the source but hopefully it doesn't cause any issues. around 20wk they found my cervix was about 2.5 cm (normal is 4cm). So i was hovering the low end of the normal range. I was monitored weekly for a couple months and the length varied from 2-2.5 cm. so i wasn't put on bedrest then since it was borderline. i did start taking progesterone suppositories because its supposed to help prevent preterm labor, and short cervix' are an indication of preterm labor (although not always). after the bad bleed i was put on modified bed rest since my cervix length was still around 2cm. but basically no heavy lifting, rest as much as possible, etc. i worked from home for the remainder of my pregnancy (luckily i had a job that allowed for that!). around 34 weeks they measured my cervix again and it was at 0.75cm, basically non existent. but at that point they wouldn't have stopped labor anyway so they didn't put me on any special bedrest. but somehow i made it to 38w with almost no cervix and 4-5cm dilated. hoping the same for you!! is this your first? this happend for my second so it was hard juggling a toddler and a high risk pregnancy!

@kodybear: So I've been having more bleeding which turned bright red in the last couple days. My doctor found a polyp this morning and said that could be the cause of the bleeding. She also scheduled me for a high level ultrasound to check my cervix length. Apparently my cervix already feels soft. Did you have to go on bedrest after your bleed? I hope I can make it to 38 weeks too.

@tiramisu: Yeah it was scary, I was in the hospital for a couple days. But in addition to the polyp i also had a short cervix (which may have been caused by the polyp). but i delivered at 38w despite all that!

@Autumnmama79: Thanks for the support and sorry you had the bleeding/spotting too. I agree, it is totally emotionally exhausting. I think I'll feel a little better once I can feel baby move. That's great that you're into the last stretch of pregnancy! I hope the next couple months go well and you have a nice, easy delivery!

@T.H.O.U.: yeah I thought my doctor would monitor the SCH more closely but she hasn't done extra ultrasounds.

@kodybear: Wow these polyps sound more common than I thought. That must have been so scary with the bad bleed at 29 weeks. Glad to hear things got better after that. This is my 2nd pregnancy too and I never had these issues with my daughter so it's really freaking me out.

I spotted/bled up until 30 weeks for my second. It was due to a cervical polyp. It's hard to see on an ultrasound but the dr saw it when she was doing a Pap smear. I spotted basically until 29 weeks. Then I had a bad bleed (blood filled the toilet). Maybe it fell out then but it was better after that. It sucks but hopefully it's just something harmless like a polyp

My SCH didn't clear up until almost 20 weeks. I wasn't bleeding much past first tri but we were monitoring it closely on ultrasound.

@tiramisu: sorry, spotting is just the worst! I've had everything from spotting to full on bleeding with this pg. I was told I likely have a polyp too, but really I don't think Drs ever know for sure

As terrifying as it is, brown is always better, try to remember that. The obsessive wiping is emotionally exhausting. I'm 29 weeks now, keep the faith mama!

@Hoots: I'm so happy things turned out well for you! Congrats on baby! I wonder if I have a polyp too. I'll try ask my doctor at my next visit. Thanks!

Spotted week 16-28. It was super scary, but all ended up fine. They think mine was due to a polyp. It was always brown. I completely get the anxiety. I was a wreck. But there are good outcomes!

@Alba4: Thanks for sharing and sorry you're going through this too. Its giving me such anxiety...I feel like I'm constantly going to the bathroom to check if it's getting heavier.
I hope the rest of your pregnancy is uneventful and goes well!

I had my first bleed at 12 weeks due to a SCH. I then had another bleed at 15 weeks and they discovered a complete placenta previa. I had some light spotting again at 19 weeks. I've been on modified bedrest since 15 weeks. I'm now 22 weeks. Bleeding is always scary and no fun!

Trust your doctor. If he's not concerned, you shouldn't be either.

Has anyone had continued spotting or bleeding in the 2nd trimester? I know bleeding in the 1st trimester is quite common and for most people it clears up by 14 weeks or so.

I've been spotting off and on since week 11 when the doctor discovered I had a subchorionic hemorrhage. I'm now about 16 weeks and the spotting continues. It is brown and not heavy, but it's still super scary! My doctor didn't seem too concerned since it's brown, but I just wish there was no spotting at all.
