@MrsKRB: I'm sorry you're dealing with this. Hopefully the urologist can give you some more answers.

In our case my husband had extremely low counts after several SAs. The most they ever found was 2 sperm. I wish I meant 2 million.

He was diagnosed with low testosterone and took Clomid for 3 months. The clomid raised his testosterone but didn't increase his sperm count.

This is worst case scenario and I hope you don't have to go this far, but DH had a Testicular Sperm Extraction (TESE). They found about 7 million sperm in one testicle! They just couldn't make it out!

I am now 17 weeks pregnant with DH's biological child after one round of IVF with ICSI. It's totally possible and we feel very lucky.

My husband has moderately bad morphology (19% good) and I've just gotten pregnant - so it does happen.

@bluestriped bee: @marionberry: When I originally went to my Dr. she told me I had the option of an HSG/Hormone workup if the SA was normal, but didn't mention anything to me when I called her for the results. I will definitely call to schedule a work-up to be sure though! Thank you both for your help!

@bluestriped bee: I agree that it's important to do a full work up of both of you. We didn't know for sure whether a previous LEEP procedure had affected my cervix in a way that would prevent fertility, but we treated it as if it did, so that we could come up with a plan that would avoid both of our "possible" issues. @mrskrb: Have you had a full hormone workup done yet?

My husband's issue was abnormal morphology but his numbers have improved since then. Well, they've gone up and done over our TTC journey.

In our IF world, we always say it only take one sperm to make a baby.

I would ask about morphology or motility numbers.

Also, I hate to tell you this but I thought I was healthy with regular cycles and didn't think I was the cause of our infertility, but after failed IUIs (with good sperm numbers) and switching to a new clinic, I was finally diagnosed. I think it was me or both of us that caused our IF over the past 3 years. Anyway, we are in the middle of IVF with fertilized embryos in the freezer. Farthest step we've gotten so far.

@marionberry: thank you! I will definitely check those out. DH had a hard time producing as well so I am hoping that is why his numbers were so low

I don't remember what my husband's true counts were (they were lower, but not horrendously low), but in working with an RE he had trouble producing samples which in turn meant even smaller counts. The RE never acted like count was a huge deal and we got pregnant with our first IUI. So I say this in hopes that it gives you some hope that this isn't a huge hurdle to overcome. The referral to a urologist is a good one, and from there you may or may not need to see an RE to get pregnant.

Fairhaven Health makes a number of vitamin supplements which are supposed to increase count, amongst other things. My husband took FertilAid for Men and Motility Boost and I swear it did wonders for him. You might check them out.

A little background: We are going on cycle 10 TTC. Since I have no known issues with my cycle, my Obgyn sent dh for a SA. Turns out his count is <5 million good sperm, (she didn't say anything about motility or morphology), and referred him to a urologist.

Does anyone have any success stories with low counts? We're you able to get the count up naturally? Im really nervous that we have a long road ahead of us.
