It took her a while to get the hang of it! Then one day it clicked and now she sucks them down without spilling a drop, unless it's a flavor she's not fond of.

Lol, I don't know because we haven't mastered them over here either. Everyone says they are so easy, but the first and last time I gave her one a couple months ago, it was a similar situation to your picture above. Maybe they will get it one day?

Ha, it definitely takes time. My LO is pretty good with them, but she was starving when I picked her up from daycare yesterday so I let her have the "emergency pouch" in the car. Somehow, she managed to squirt it all over the back of the seat in front of her (she's still RF). When we got home and I went to unbuckle her, she started pointing and hysterically yelling "uh oh! Uh oh!" I had quite the time trying to convince her that it was okay and mommy would fix it. And then I had to actually clean it up after her bedtime...I'm thinking no more pouches in the car for awhile!

that's a funny picture. we used pouches like puree jars--i would spoon some into a bowl, sometimes mixed with oatmeal cereal. i don't think i ever gave a pouch to him to handle by himself. that probably defeats the purpose for some folks in giving it to their kid on the go, but we didn't have him eat on the go much or brought other things (like puffs or melts or whatever).

My 1 year old loves food way too much to let any of a pouch spill!! :)

We don't use them with her often, but I think they're great for letting a child who is too young to use a spoon well self-feed. For my nearly 3 year old, I buy the go-go squeeze applesauce pouches as a treat for when we need snacks on the run.

She just doesn't understand that she is supposed to suck. I try alternating with her straw cup but no. Lol. She wants to gnaw on the spout and fingerprint in the mess, that's it! And she's way over spoons lol

Our trick is that he isn't allowed to touch it until I have it in his mouth then he's allowed to handle it. Once in his mouth he sucks it down in lightning speed.

You need these. C used to do the exact same thing and it drove me absolutely crazy. Then I got these caps, which prevented it from squeezing out all over the place, and started to figure out what flavors she likes (must have a fruit with the veggie) and now she loves them. She's always insisted on holding them herself.

Seriously these caps are a life saver. She can eat them without them now but it took a long time.

I don't let my LO handle her own pouch. She'll be one next month. I always squirt it onto a spoon and feed it to her. I'm sure if I gave her the pouch herself it would end up everywhere but in her mouth.

My LO was late to solids in general, and also late to doing a whole lot of self-feeding, so she used to squeeze her pouches out rather than eat them. So I used to have to either spoon feed her from the pouch, or carefully hold the pouch myself, squeezing a little bit out at a time because she basically wouldn't suck the food out herself.

Buuutttt...somewhere around 15ish months, that all changed and still to this day she loveeeees a pouch when I let her have one. And now she sucks the whole thing down in about 6 seconds.

I dunno. My kid sucks them down like they are crack. Not a drop spilled because he wants to eat it all. How old is your LO? Mine is 2 but has been having pouches since he was 7 months old or so and we've only had a few squeeze out issues here and there when he was younger.
