We will explain it to our LO when they start asking questions, not sure how...or in how much detail but I think its good they know about it in a general aspect.

When explaining to DS about me having the baby we just went back to the differences in boys & girl (which he of course remembered) and I told him the reason God made girls different (in that specifically) is b/c that's where the baby comes out.

He hasn't asked the specifics of HOW baby got there though, but he does know that is part of being husband & wife.

@chopsuey119: that's AWESOME! lol I can see the wide eyes already! hehe

Wowza to the coke! I have pics of my LO coming out of me, so if she asks, I'll just show her! HAHA. :P Haven't really thought this through, definitely won't lie about how it happens, but won't be graphic either. I still have some time!

We plan to be honest with our kids as soon as they ask questions, just not giving them intense detail until they are old enough to understand it.
I did like one explanation I heard for little one's questions that are easily satisfied - "Mommy and Daddy loved each other so much, that their love spilled over and made a baby."

Oh my! That's certainly an interesting explanation! :)
I think children's questions should be answered in factual, straight-forward and age-appropriate ways. I've heard people say that "mommy and daddy did a special hug" or something like that to explain how the baby gets made. It seems true without being too graphic or confusing. I'd have less of a problem explaining labor in simple terms, but the baby-making is tough!

LOL for some reason this reminded me of Knocked Up, where the little girl is like "and then your butt falls off.."

When are you planning on telling your lo about sex? And how are you going to do it?

My 6 year old niece started asking her parents where babies come from and how they get out of the belly when I got pregnant. They still haven't told her. In fact my bil told her that he and her mom pricked their fingers and mixed together their blood, added some coke, and bam, she was there. No joke.

My plan is to tell lo when she starts asking about it. I'll probably use some sort of book to help.
