Only bad news today, like cried my eyes out for hours after it kinda news. :bummed: :crying:

Eggs still tiny and useless at today's scan. Barely 1mm uterine lining. And now... endometriosis on the right ovary. What a blow.

I'm booked for ovarian drilling & cauterisation, endometriosis clean up and a dnc on 16 July. Then we're gonna go IVF.

Doc says that the ovarian drilling story is most successful in women with high testosterone. My testost. is only moderately high, but I'm a walking androstenedione factory. At the very least it will clear the endometriosis and reduce a dash of manly hormones. right? Which can only help us prepare for first round ivf.

I'm so cheesed with my body, for just getting worse when we're all doing everything possible to improve it. All my ovaries have ever done is cause acne from 11 - 22yrs and the rest of pcos.

IVF here will cost us around R50 000 (equal to about $4700), how does it fair for those in the US?

@Jenn23 Thanks so much :) I dipped my toes into a few other baby forum sites but HB is where I'm parking :)

@Laughlines Thats great news, big congrats to you! I'm not getting into opks and CM checks as I'm in and out at my Doc so often that I'm sure he knows exactly what's going on. I'm also trying to preserve my sanity a bit to be honest. DH and I have done/are doing everything we can at this point of our IF journey, so I keep telling myself. :goodluck:

@shootingstar Thanks for the info :) Doc said we would give Clomid 3 cycles to impress us and then move on to the next option if no luck. With the SA shortage, hopefully we move on next month if this cycle bombs!

Just passing my time till my Friday 1:30 appointment! Hoping my blood results are positive and we get to our first IUI :goodluck:

I have PCOS also. I didn't do 10 days in a row of Clomid, but I did do multiple rounds of 5 some cycles. I think one cycle I tried 3 different doses of Clomid, each for 5 days at a time. The first time I was on it I got pregnant, but it took a very long time to get a viable follicle and ultimately I had a chemical pregnancy. I never responded to it very well and became Clomid resistant, so my RE put me on Femara and then I got pregnant with my son using Femara and Gonal-F (an injectable).

If you go a couple rounds of Clomid with no lead follicle and tons of tiny ones, do not let them make you keep taking it. Insist on another form of treatment.

@Robyn_ZA: Good luck to you! I have lean PCOS with about 2-3 periods a year, too! I took 50mg of clomid for a 5 day dose this month and ovulated for the first time that I'm aware of and got a BFP! It wasn't a monitored cycle, but I used OPKs. I was supposed to go in for bloodwork after ovulation so they could confirm, but I ended up being out of town.

Hope it works out for you!!

@MRSWIN : Thanks :) There's a shortage of the active ingredient for Clomid (and it's generics) here in South Africa at the moment so you have to call soooo many pharmacies to try find a box. As if it's not stressful enough trying to get pregnant! I was thinking to ask my Doc about Femera vs us going onto injectibles on round 2.

@FAITHFERTILITY : Thanks  A slow response is better then no response for sure!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: You have no idea what a ray of light your words are! I've been feeling so worried lately about how long our IF journey will be. We've been through a streak of bad news appointments so I sometimes feel like we're at the bottom of one hell of a mountain :bummed:

I've had some weird feelings in what I presume are my ovaries, I've never felt this sensation in my abdomen before. Today has been the most intense, I'm so holding thumbs it means some fabulous eggs are brewing!

@Robyn_ZA: I took Clomid for 10 days. The first time, I got pregnant with my now almost three year old.

The second time I took a 10 day dose, I had signs of OHSS and my RE stopped my cycle. I only took it for 6 days and had follicles, so they gave me the trigger shot. That month was not succesful for us.

I took Clomid for 6 days the next two cycles, and I am now 29 weeks pregnant with our second baby.

Hey ladies,

It's been a long 5 months trying to get cyst free and get to the Clomid stage. I had a 4cm cyst on the right ovary that was due for a lap op if it wasn't gone by a said date, thankfully I managed to rupture it while we moved our offices so that bugger was finally gone!

I'm currently on my first round of Clomid 50mg tab am and pm and was initially supposed to be on them for CD5-9.

Had my ovary scan yesterday on CD 9 and my Doc said I''m about half way there both uterine lining and follicle wise. My biggest follicle was 1cms. He said I must continue at my current Clomid dose until Friday (CD13) when I see him for another scan.

I'm lean pcos with maybe 3 periods a year, but the chances of ovulation with those were pretty low given my hormone set up, so I can't comment on cycle lengths and previous ovulation CDs.

Has anyone else done an extended course of Clomid and had luck?

PS:I definitely never imagined myself cheerfully reporting an ovary rupture! haha
