I've been having similar eye problems but ongoing... I'm wondering if it's mucus from my sinuses (like you said). So bizarre!

@tororojo: ugh, glad to hear it's not an infection! If it's still bothering you, OTC drops have always helped me.

Thanks, ladies! I have determined that the problem was from mucus in my sinuses, not an eye infection. I didn't know that it was possible for stuff to come out of my eyes, but the following day it switched to the other side, following the congestion in my nose, and now that my sinuses are clearing up I have only had stuff collect in my eyes at night instead of consistently through the day. Grossest problem ever!

I'm not sure if you're breastfeeding or not but they say breastmilk can help out with eye problems...

Hope you feel better soon!

It sounds like an infection....You will probably need a prescription eye drop from an optometrist. If you have problems finding a private practice OD today, you can always walk in to the eye doc at a WalMart, Target, or Costco. They treat medical issues too. I am in the contact lens biz, so I'd recommend one of those docs on the weekend.

It could be a few things, but I second the warm compress! It should help with the discharge and make you feel a little more comfortable. And yes, try to find any eye doctor open on a weekend first... Good luck!

Do you have allergies? Mine do something kind of similar twice a year during the worst allergy season and there is nothing but some eyedrops that help (the over the counter work as well as the prescription). If you think that may be the issue (though yours sounds worse than mine) then maybe consider trying Zaditor. Mine is caused by eye papilloma on the inner eyelids that "burst" and weep the whitish gunk. Very gross.

I say def put warm clean rag on eye. Sounds like an infection. Have you tried any over the counter drops? Some Optical places are open Saturdays (where I work we have a Dr every Sat) they should be able to get you in if you tell them its bad. Save your money, patient first wont do much. Find an Optometrist!

I would find an eye doctor open on a Sat. Sounds like a bad infection. Sorry! I have had eye infections before and they suck.

If it wasn't Friday night before a holiday weekend I would try to find an eye doctor but I don't think my odds are very good. :( My left eye has been slightly blurry at times today and was crusty this morning (which is unusual) but this evening the problem seems to be getting worse and I have white gunk constantly collecting in it. I'll wash my hands, get all the gunk out and then 5 mins later a bunch more appears! It's freaking me out. If I pull my bottom eyelid down it seems to be coming from/collecting under my eye. I have a pretty bad cold--could this be a cold or sinus symptom? I started crying earlier and wiped my eyes with tissue; right after that is when it started really bugging me and I thought maybe I got fiber in it from the tissue...would that cause white pus? Does anyone have advice? I have googled to no avail and I'm keeping the eye shut, hoping it will resolve. The only place I can think to go tomorrow is an urgent care place and I don't think they're experts at eye problems...waaah!
