<description>&#60;p&#62;We use vinegar as fabric softener. It helps remove detergent and won't damage flame retardancy (by virtue of not coating your clothes in flammable chemicals, lol).

<description>&#60;p&#62;I just started washing baby's stuff that we got at the shower.  I'm using All Free and Clear detergent, but haven't dried anything yet because I didn't get a Free and Clear fabric softener.  This morning I read a board somewhere that says you're not supposed to use fabric softener (of any kind) for baby's clothes - that it reduces the fire-retardent-ness (totally a word!).  Anyone heard this?  Do you use fabric softener?  We have really hard water, so I worry that without using fabric softener the clothing and stuff will not be as soft as it should be.
