@snowjewelz: haha so liberating isn't it?! I use people's birthday as an opportunity to give them the gift of not being fb friends anymore, since it's easy enough when it pops up on the sidebar lol.

I'm about to declutter my friends list too! Yesterday one of my friends found out someone had taken his pictures and made a.profile with a different name but used ALL of my friends pictures...many of which included his 2 yr old dd!!!!!! The profile pic was of him and his dd!!! So creepy. He reported it to fb and to the police.

@JoyfulKiwi: oooh good question and I agree! I'm going to say no because most times when I see a friend LIKE something it's usually a) something public or b) a mutual friend and I can see whatever they like. I've never had a scenario where a friend liked something, I went to click on it and couldn't see it after the click.

So I have a question. If you put someone on "restriction", like a MIL, but a mutual friend who's not on restriction, like her dsighted/my SIL, likes the picture, will it show up to MIL because it's telling her that SIL liked it? I see photos of randos constantly because one of my friends "liked" that person's picture. It weirds me out and I wish Facebook would create better/easier privacy options.

What is up with ILs who want to share everything? My SIL and MIL do this as well. MIL is in the habit of sharing every photo of LO that I post, and SIL takes photos of my LO whenever she sees us and posts them herself (we had a talk with her because she was posting photos that we had texted her so she specifically asked if she could at least post photos that she took herself and since we said yes, she now does it every single time we see her). The worst is when SIL will share an old photo that she took of my LO (like with TimeHopper) and then MIL will re-share it. Argh!

Honestly I would love to get off facebook all together but it's the only way that I'm in contact with some of my family members so I feel like I should stay on there. I already barely post anything anymore.

I'm the same as you, my privacy is locked down really tight and I keep my friends list really tight.
My mil was sharing every.single picture I posted. Pictures of just me, of my kids, everything. So I put her on a restricted list so she can no longer see my private pictures. It's worked well for me and I haven't had any further issues :)

I would take the restricted friends list approach. I believe that you can also set the audience for your picture albums too. You can restrict her that way. My MIL used to do this all of the time until I did this. Even for my Shutterfly share site, I have to where the pictures can't be downloaded. My MIL was horrible about this. I found out about it when she sent my DH a USB memory stick of pictures. I found all of these pictures I never sent her on there.

We text messaged C's first ultrasound photo (10.5 weeks) to my husband's brother. Later that day, his girlfriend uploaded it to Instagram and Facebook. I was SO mad! He had no idea she even did it - when my husband confronted him (BIL) he was embarrassed and made it delete it. She thought we were over reacting. DF, dude.

But yeah. If she has access to your page she can just screenshot and crop if she's that whacked and desperate haha.

@catomd00: @Smurfette: @skipra: So, I did a little digging and put her on a restricted friends list. Basically, we will still be FB friends but the only things she will see are public items. It's not as extreme as defriending her.....but I also don't care if she's a little offended that she's now restricted. Since we aren't even technically family anymore! A little dicier when it's grandparents or sibling in laws though. :/

Nope. I have vented several times over SIL doing the same thing. We asked nicely for her not to do it and she completely blew up. She is blocked on FB now because she started posting pics of me and my kids (on the rare occasions she saw us) and blocking me from seeing them. Best you can do is explain the privacy thing and ask her to stop and remove the pics. A lot of people just don't care about it so be prepared just to block her.

I will preface by saying my account is private and I am pretty ruthless about accepting friend requests and deleting people I haven't had social media or IRL interactions in a while.

That being said. I'm friends on FB with the ex wife of DH's uncle. Yesterday was my MIL's birthdays and I posted some pictures of the celebration. She took one of my pictures (with MIl and my 2 girls) and posted it on her FB. I'm assuming she saved the picture to her phone and then posted it because it wasn't a share. Which she's done before. Ugh. This annoys me because I don't know what kind of privacy she has or the people she's friends with. Obviously there's nothing I can do about what has already happened.

Going forth, is there anyway to set my FB so people can't save my photos?
I will probably just put her on a separate friend list that doesn't see my posts any more! 😁
