@artbee: I brought up the grunting thing with the pediatrician at her 1 month appointment and they agreed it could be a tummy issue... but since she's not all-out crying (just grunting and waking up when I put her down) and she doesn't spit up all that much, it's probably just her gut maturing. We'll have to watch and see. They did recommend elevating the head of her crib mattress.

@looch: yup, she's usually swaddled in either the miracle blanket (at night and in the early morning) or an aden & anais blanket (during the day). She definitely prefers to be swaddled for sleeping.

@mrstilly: @cvbee: @BabyBoecksMom: @Honeybee: good to know that Lil Miss Wagon isn't the only baby that needs to be VIOLENTLY jiggled to fall asleep! I feel like I'm shaking my baby to sleep! haha. I definitely did not do any jogging while pregnant... I think she is just super strong and stubborn and so the method to get her to fall asleep has to be as well!

@Goldilocks1107: @Mrsbells: unfortunately she's not a huge fan of the carseat unless we're driving in the car and not stopping at all. I put her in the stroller for the first time today (on our uppababy vista with the carseat adapter) and she was asleep when we put her in, but eventually woke up and totally freaked out. I had to take her out of the carseat and rock her back to sleep!

DD was like this. It took her until 6 months (I think) before I could just rock her to sleep in the rocking chair. Before that, I literally spent 1+ hours a night jumping up and down with her in my arms. :/

I let him sleep on a blanket on the floor. Sometimes with the tv on for background sound if he was being fussy.
We didn't have any "gear" besides crib and car seat until after 5 weeks.
We also used the 5s's (happiest baby on the block CD has the womb sounds at the end)

LO needed some pretty rocky rocking/jiggling to get her to go to sleep. (I contribute that to the jogging I did while I was pregnant w/ her). We had a mamaroo, but it didn't do anything for her. Nothing but a good bounce...

We heavily relied on the 5 S's at one month. The swing or bouncy chair never worked for us but I could usually get my LO to nap in the moby.

@mrs. wagon: Mine likes a solid jiggle too, and at that age (well, even now at 4 months) we do the carrier (like you) and I hear you on the sweaty-ness of it all. We got air conditioning because of it. How's that for some expensive baby equipment?! Sometimes if my back was hurting or I just was sick of carrying baby to sleep I would do the bouncy chair, bouncing with my foot. (Vibrate was not enough for him).

Oh, agree re: swaddling for naps, too. T still is very swaddle dependent, unless he is in his carseat...

The swing was good but I had to rock her to sleep first in my arms. She would never fall asleep on her own in the swing. I would also swaddle her.

We have Rock N Play as well as My Little Snugabunny swing. T loooooves to nap in his swing and sleeps in R&P at night. He will nap in the R&P but I don't think it's magic for naps per se!

Our LO always fell asleep on walks/in the car. Maybe try putting her in her carseat and rocking it on the kitchen floor?

Is she swaddled? We would have to bounce our son too, we'd put on his straightjacket then we'd bounce him (our method involved bouncing on an exercise ball). When he fell asleep, we'd transfer to the crib.

We didn't have the option of a Rock and Play (it isn't available in Europe) so it can be done without it! Good luck!

I wonder if the nap and play would do it. It's at an incline and snugs LO close, but I would think that if you had to really bounce/jiggle her to get her to sleep, the nap and play would not be any different than a bouncy seat.

DS would sleep in that but only if I kept my foot on it to keep bouncing him. He probably would have loved a swing, but we never got one.

Do you think it could be something else that's causing her to have trouble napping, like reflux? My LO was an awful napper until we realized it was because she was having tummy issues.

Ours was usually the swing unless she was over tired. Otherwise we would swaddle, sway (really bounce), and shhh..

Wagon Jr. always slept great in his bouncy chair and his swing. If I couldn't get him to sleep anywhere else, the swing ALWAYS did it. That and putting him in the car, but that uses a lot of gas! :) Lil Miss Wagon won't go down easily anywhere, especially if she's overtired. Sometimes she'll go down in the Ergo after quite a bit of fussing, and sometimes I'll have to literally shake and jiggle her in my arms VERY violently for her to fall asleep. But if she stays in the Ergo or my arms, we both very VERY sweaty.

Everyone's been singing the praises of the Rock n Play so I'm tempted to get one, but I don't want ANOTHER piece of baby gear for nap/sleeping (we already have a swing, 2 bouncy chairs, 2 pack n plays, and 2 cribs) in our house!! But of course, if it works, I won't hesitate :)

She sleeps ok in her bassinet at night but she just won't have it during the day!!
