@msmini thanks for the words of encouragement. Yeah, today the doctor said I am measuring 4 weeks ahead but its the first time its been mentioned anything (was measured at 24 weeks too). I guess I shouldnt worry until the 3 hour im just upset about having to do more testing :(

Maybe this isn't what you want to hear, I have measured 4 weeks ahead since my OB started measuring at 16 weeks, my baby is at about the 75%ile as of the 20 and 24 week ultrasounds, and I have GD. We do a 2 hour instead of a 3 hour test here, and I failed the 1 hour check, and was right on the line at the 2 hour, so I got the GD diagnosis. The diet really isn't that bad, and I got a meter that had alternate site testing, so you can test your arm instead of your finger (the arm pokes really don't hurt at all). I have been doing the diet and pokes for almost 2 weeks, and I don't find it to be bad at all, and my sugars are awesome on diet alone. I even eat the odd chocolate with a meal, and it doesn't seem to mess with my glucose.

I hope you pass your 3 hour test, but if not it is really manageable!

@artbee: My failure was because of a rushed lunch of In N Out animal fries. I knew better, I just planned the day very badly. We now call that my $55 lunch because of the lab co-pay ;)

@Nskillet: I measured big the whole time. He actually came out not too big at 6 lbs 11oz (definitely beats them estimating 9lbs for his due date!!), it just turned out he is very long, so it threw off the measurements.

I was worried about GD, but it turned out not to be a problem.

@Nskillet: I measured big. They made me.get another ultrasound and it showed that she was just a tiny bit big, nothing to worry about. Lo ended up being 8 lbs 13 oz born on her due date. With no gd.

I failed my one hour because I ate a bagel. But I passed the 3 hour. Just make sure you bring lots to do to keep you entertained ... and don't bring magazines with food and recipes in them -I always make that mistake when I'm fasting!

Yes, and the 3 hour is no picnic either.

*Schedule it for first thing in the morning if you can- its bad enough not to eat breakfast for this test, don't drag it out all day.
*Bring lots of things to do- my doc would not let me leave, so my kindle, ipod, and phone were key to my sanity.
*Have a bottle of water ready for when all the testing is done- chug this when they let you.
*Afterward have a lunch with lots of protein, I had a huge turkey sandwich with another bottle of water- you will just want junk food, but go for protein instead.
*Take a nap after lunch if you can.

These are what my lab tech told me to do, I felt awful after the test, but after lunch and a nap I felt fantastic for the rest of the day. Good thing too because I had a work meeting that I couldn't miss, so I was almost human again for that.

Thanks everyone! I guess I was also upset cause my fundal height is also large which is also indicative of GD. My MIL bad it with DH and all his brothers (3 boys total) and shes fine. I guess i just feel bummed/scared about it.

Ive also been on a capri sun/cake tear this past month. Wondering if that could have contributed?? Im doing the 3 hour this Saturday....

I passed mine, surprisingly. DH thought for sure I was goin to fail with all the sweets I was eating. Anyway, I just wanted to say hang in there and that it is really common to fail the one hour an some doctors even make their patients take the 3 hour regardless of pass/fail on the first test. Your not alone!

I failed my one hour test too and barely passed my three hour test! I went in for my three hour test super early in the day. They took a vial of blood then gave me a bottle of super sugary flat soda and took a vial of blood on the hour for three hours. I received my results pretty quickly--I missed the score by 1 and my doctor suggested I see a nutritionist for my own benefit. The three hour test wasn't too bad but definitely bring something to read/something to surf the net on because it gets pretty boring. Bring a snack for after the test, you'll be hungry. You aren't allowed to eat during the test but you are allowed to drink water.

With my first pregnancy, I failed my 1 hour (180s) so they didn't even bother having me take the 3 hour. I was put on a strict diabetic diet and had to take my glucose levels 4x a day. My son came out perfectly normal (no diabetic problems) and I didn't have to go on insulin because I followed the diet to a T. With this pregnancy, they had me take the 1 hour early (at 12 weeks) and it was a little high so they wanted me to take precautions and go on the diabetic diet early.

Don't worry! It's not that bad. Just make sure you follow the meal plan and take your tests and your baby will come out fine. If you have any questions about the GD diet, feel free to reach out. This is my 2nd time with GD so I can help answer any questions you have. :)

Any other Moms fail? How was your 3 hour experience? I failed considerably, being at 170+ so just curious what others experienced.

Also, anyone else notice the search function doesnt work?
