@periwinklebee: this summer I've been wearing Everlane tees. Their v-backs are only 15 bucks are pretty quality for the price and can be worn a lot of ways. I think the crews are only 30. Not too bad and I like the quality and versatility.

Ugh, my fall wardrobe needs (lots of) help but I really don't want to deal with it. Does anyone know of a good simple black skirt, that is not so casual that it looks like athleisure but not so formal that it only looks decent with heels and a silk blouse? I'm aiming for something in between that can be a capsule staple.

@lamariniere: I did okay this summer. I know the point isn't to have much but I didn't buy much so I've ended up wearing the same 5 outfits the entire summer. Which is fine because they do fit better and are a bit more quality than things I've worn in the past but I have at least another 2 months of warm-ish weather ahead and I'm bored.

@lamariniere: I would love to have fewer days looking into my closet blankly. I just ordered an Elizabeth Suzanne tunic that I've been lusting after for forever- I consider it to be my first capsule item. I am going to make it work for all 4 seasons, lol.

@LulaBee: @Mrs. Sunshine: I've been slowly curating a capsule wardrobe. It's not perfect, but I'm pretty satisfied with my spring/summer wardrobe. I maybe had 3 days in the last 5 months where I stared blankly into my closet. My fall/winter is still a work in progress, but I started it last fall and I'm about halfway there. I think part of it is to work with what you have and the other part is to be on the lookout for pieces that will work with your current clothes, even if it takes a few seasons to find them. I definitely feel better about how I look and waste a lot less time and money (well, over the long run).

I'm trying to lose about 25 pounds and nursing... so I don't want to buy too much. But I want a black pair of Dansko Maria boots (I wear my grey pair multiple times a week), a smaller pair of work pants (probably just get Old Navy pixie pants for now), a somewhat structured long sleeve black trapeze dress (if such a thing exists, I can see it in my mind but can't really find it). I think I have enough scarves/sweaters to get me through the fall. Oh, I do want a new bag. I'm really wanting to move towards a capsule wardrobe.

@LindsayLou: I like to keep things pretty plain and neutral and dress up with accessories if I wish. Ive been eyeing a red plaid blanket scarf but it will be a while before that's really needed here.

I love fall clothes, but I'm also not trendy or concerned about current styles. My fall wardrobe is mostly dark wash straight leg jeans, light sweaters and long sleeve scoop or crew neck tees in greys, blues, and purples, neutral camisoles for underneath, one pair brown boots, one pair grey boots, one pair of cute sneakers (I had a pair of cheap Levi's I loved, I want to replace them), some pretty scarves, a couple of long, neutral cardigans, and a lightweight jacket.

Eta: when not nursing, I like to wear simple, empire waist jersey dresses with leggings.

I wear leggings almost every single day!! I have solid, prints, and fleece-lined for when it gets super cold. I wear a tank top w/ cardigan, tunic top, or tshirt dress on top and flat boots. I do have a pair of skinny jeans but I feel like it's way easier to bend and play when you have on something stretchy. I tried the athleisure thing but I feel like I look super sloppy especially if I don't get to take a shower or put on makeup that day.

@looch: thanks for all the other suggestions! I should give button downs a try again. I'm somewhat busty but also on the petite side and I've never found a button down that wasn't either gaping at the buttons or just big and loose all over. It has probably been almost 10 years since the last time I owned one! I would love a casual pencil skirt...something that is form fitting but with a wide elastic waistband?

@looch: ah, ok! Those do look comfy, but I probably wouldn't wear something like that out of the house. People dress somewhat formally here and athleisure isn't a thing (at least, not yet!).

@lamariniere: for the leggings, what if you did a fitted long button down and then a shorter, more tailored piece on top, like a casual blazer? That's basically my unicorn outfit, though!

For skirts, I like pencil and a line, I have a suede one, plus a corduroy one that get a lot of wear. I might also break out my riding skirt, which is basically a mid calf length, wool. With a fitted, cabled turtleneck and a belt, that's cute too.

I ended up having a lot of dresses this summer, which I hope to carry over to fall/winter. I'm in the market for 2-3 dresses. I am frustrated with jeans these days and only have one pair for when they are absolutely necessary. I also need a few more skirts, but I'm stuck on what I want. I tried the leggings/long top thing last year, but couldn't find tops that I liked that covered my butt and didn't look too schlubby.

What are these joggers people are talking about? (Clueless here.)

I got some joggers from Costco, they fit great and they only cost $9! I haven't washed them yet, so I have no idea if I will get a full winter out of them, but that's okay if I don't.

I plan to wear them with a printed graphic tee and a long open cardigan and sneakers of some sort, haven't worked that out just yet. I was thinking about getting some Jack Purcells in a charcoal color.

My other standard outfit is a quilted field vest, a button down shirt or a solid turtleneck underneath that, a denim skirt and boots/tights. No leggings or skinny jeans for me any more.

Oh yes! After spending all of 2016 so far pregnant, I'm looking forward to hopefully buying some regular size clothes once I have this baby. I'm looking for some comfy button downs, some items in plaid, and a new cardigan or two. I also need a new pair of riding boots.

I'm on maternity leave but will need to drop off or pick up DS at preschool so I can't be in PJs 24/7 which is my current jam.

I'm doing slouchy wear right now since it's warmer. My mom uniform these days is boyfriend jeans or skinnies with a loose boyfriend t-shirt and flip flops.

For fall, I'll probably get 2-3 pairs of leggings and I just got some joggers and trendier white sneakers. I have a denim shirt but I may need to invest in a new one or a flannel. I have plenty of long cardigans and jackets, although I might like an olive utility jacket. I have some heeled lace up Oxford shoes from last year that are basically still new and some suede wedge pumps for more dressier occasions.

This will be the first fall/winter that I won't be pregnant or nursing in years. So basically I'm starting from scratch as far as style goes. I SAH so I'm thinking I'll need 2 or 3 pairs of good leggings, a few cardigans, and long sleeve tunic type tops. I might try some "athlesuire" wear too! I already have a nice pair of good fitting jeans so I don't need to worry about that. I need new undershirts too. Have you given thought to you fall wardrobe yet?
