@travellingbee: I bought them from another mom but I know One Step Agead has them. Have also seen them on Amazon. I'm on my phone but hopefully this link works. If not, just search "onesie extenders." http://www.onestepahead.com/mobile/Add-a-Size-Baby-Clothes-Extender-10-Pack-Onesie-Extender.pro.

Thanks everyone for the input!
@SeptMomma12: where did you get the extenders? He has a long torso and grows out of onesies first!

C wore 9 months well past 20lbs. Their growth realy slows after they hit 6 months, so Id say you'll be pretty safe with 12.

Not sure how your LO is built, but my LO is long and onesie extenders have been a lifesaver. He's 31" and just about 25 lbs, but is still able to wear his 12 month onesies with the extender. I would highly recommend them for a big baby.

I have been buying 18 months Carters for the fall, but it's very unlikely that stuff will get him through fall and winter. So I've also been buying a lot of 18-24 months Gap and Gymboree - hoping that may get us into the winter too since they tend to run bigger, but who knows.

My LO is a december baby so I was in a similar boat as you last year! I ended up getting a mix of 12 & 18 mos stuff for the winter, in part driven by what was available at sales, and it worked out well. There is variation in different items so some things lasted longer, even within the same brand.

LO is now 21 months and is still wearing a few 12 month shirts even though most of her wardrobe is now 2T! I agree to err on the side of bigger though...

LO is 20.5 lbs and fits well in 12m but in buying for fall I found that up to 2t in tops didn't look ridiculously big. I'm just going to roll the cuffs and hope we gets lots of use out of thrm! I bought pants in 12-18 and rolled/sewed a temporary hem if they were longish.

LO is about 18-20 pounds (guessing from last appt) and she fits in 12 months and even some 18 months depending on what it is. She just got a bunch of 18 month clothes for her birthday and they all shrunk. They are a bit big still but in a few months they should fit. I'd go with 18 months! Better to roll something up than have it be too small :)

We just moved out of 9-12 month clothes at 25 pounds (2 years old). He still wears 12 month shorts but only because 18 month expect diapers and he is in underwear.

Trying to buy sales but guessing sizes is so hard!! LO is 5.5 months and currently fits perfectly in 9 months carters and similar brands but 12 months aren't huge, especially after washing. He's 18lbs and been putting on about a pound a month at this point. He's 27.5 inches long. How long were your kiddos in 12 months. Should I but 12 or 18 months for fall? (It doesn't get cool here until November and never gets super cold.) I know growth slows...
