@cmomma17: I've been there! It's so tough. I'd second or third what some pp suggested: ask for help from DH to wash bottles, help fix your lunch, etc. I never eat breakfast at home during the week. I either grab something and eat in the car or have a stash of cereal and almond milk or yogurt at work to eat at your desk when you arrive. That saves precious morning minutes for me. As much as it pained me to do so, I also went to sleep as soon as LO went down for the first several months. That was my best sleep of the night. It does get better, though!

@cmomma17: It almost still goes on!

We got super efficient at getting work done as soon as we get home from work before she goes to bed.

-Pump parts get put in the dishwasher (DH)
- Milk just gets set in the fridge (ready for the next morning, DH put nipples on in the morning).
- One of us does bath, the other cleans up the kitchen
- Mornings, DH packs all the bags (my pump bag, her daycare bag with milk, and any lunches).
- Hair is a pony tail lots of days and make up is done in the car.

That first stretch of sleep was her best also which is why I HAD to get to bed right away.

Have your DH wash pump parts, make bottles, etc while you are pumping. Then just start going to bed as soon as LO does.

@looch: guess I need to front load too! I feel anxious all evening because I feel like every minute he is sleeping is a lost opportunity for me to sleep! That first stretch is always his best and longest. Maybe I need to just change into my pjs right after work!

Being a WOHM is a lesson in efficiency. Figure out all of the things you do in the morning before work and at night after work. Then figure out what you can
- eliminate (for now)
- get DH to help with (like washing bottles and pump parts)
- do on the weekend to make life easier during the week (laying out LO's clothes for the week, making a big dinner with lots of left overs, etc)

Each week we got a little bit more efficient, but it took some effort.

I front loaded, meaning when my son went to sleep at 7, I was in bed at the same time! It was the best 4 hour stretch of sleep I got and it made a difference!

@blackbird: Yeah I guess I need to go to bed exactly when he does. It's been hard, because in the evenings after work there are so many things I need to do and want to do. I need to freeze my milk, wash my pump parts and bottles, unpack my lunchbag, etc. And that's the bare minimum, don't get me started on dishes, laundry, paying attention to the cat, taking a shower, etc.
DH has started taking LO in the morning on weekends, which is really nice and I didn't even have to suggest it myself.
Last night LO was asleep by 9 pm and woke up the first time at 1:45. Then he was asleep again by 2:10 am and up again at 5 am. When he's asleep by 9 pm I'm not ready for bed yet myself, so that cuts into my sleep time. DH works different hours from me so I'm often doing the evening routines on my own.

When does the baby go to bed? GO to bed then! 9pm-5:30am is a good stretch even with two wake ups! And catch up on Saturday--Dh takes the baby at 6am and you snooze until 8. Then he gets Sunday to catch up?

@T.H.O.U.: How long did that last? :( I feel like I never have time to get anything done ...so then I'm up earlier and earlier every morning, which of course is not helping!
Today I was so tired I didn't hear my alarm and slept in over an hour late! Ugh. And last night I was too tired so I didn't wash bottles, pack my lunch or lay out my clothes, so I was really in a pinch this morning!

@cmomma17: Honestly, when LO went down, so did I . I basically had to crawl in bed at the same time.

Ladies, I am struggling!

I have been worthless all week at work so far. Luckily it's our slow time and my boss is out on vacation, but I can't keep this up long term! I am seriously struggling all day long to keep my eyes open. Coffee isn't cutting it .... I'm up to 4 cups a day.

LO is three months old and his night sleep is pretty good, just not consistent yet. We try to start his bath/bedtime routine at about 8 pm every night and I nurse him to sleep. I try to go to bed shortly after he does to get as much sleep as possible, but I also need to clean the apartment, spend time with DH and do other things in the evening! LO usually sleeps in two chunks - the first anywhere from 3-5 hours and then a second shorter chunk usually 3-4 hours. A few times he has slept for 7 hours, but I wake up in pain and engorged about 5.5 hours in. I breastfeed, so no help with nighttime wakings.

Any tips or advice?? I've never been so tired and it's affecting a lot of my day to day life.

ETA: I'm usually out of bed by 5:30 AM (sometimes earlier) to get ready for work each day which includes eating breakfast, makeup, getting dressed, packing a lunch, etc. I also pump in the AM and I'm afraid to drop that pumping session since I can only pump twice at work.
