@Mrs. Jacks: That's why I don't really feel bad about turning it off. It's a nice reassurance when it's working, but I definitely don't feel like it actually does anything. My attitude towards SIDS is that if it's going to happen it's going to happen. If you take all the precautions that you can, there's not really any more you can do. A motion sensor doesn't ensure that tragedy won't effect you.

This is why the AAP does not recommend such monitors for babies. Between the alarm fatigue and the fact that sensors can't detect the events that precipitate SIDS, they can be frustrating and have not been shown to decrease incidence of adverse events.

We have a Tommy Tippee Motion Sensor Monitor that is driving us crazy.
It has 3 sensitivity settings and is on the highest one. It goes off all the time and nothing is ever wrong- he's just gone still from being in a deep sleep. Some nights it's fine all night, but sometimes it goes off and once it does it tends to go off repeatedly in a short time span after being reset. So when that happens I get frustrated and end up just turning off the motion sensor element...
Does anyone else have this problem?
It seems like it defeats the purpose of having it if it doesn't really work well...
