@MaryM: No steroids, but a vicious stomach flu, which might have disrupted things.

@raspberries: I honestly didn't even know late ovulation was a thing until posting here, so I'm glad I did. It would kind of make sense since the beginning of my cycle was just before Christmas which meant driving all over creation and dealing with family stress and then both DH and I got miserably sick for New Year's/just after. So I'll keep waiting and maybe try a new test this weekend.

I don't think a false negative this late would be wrong - but it IS possible you ovulated later than usual. I had relatively regular (though longer) cycles - I ovulated on day 29 of a 42 day cycle. The month I got KU, I didn't ovulate until day 41, so when I tested 2 weeks after I thought AF was due, it was negative - a week after that and still no AF, I tested again and got a positive. Good luck!

@banddmommy it was diluted urine. I realized just how late I was and pulled an old test out of a drawer to immediately test. It was a first response test. Now that I'm thinking of it, I probably should have checked the exp. date since it was ~3 years old. I may test again this weekend with a fresh one. Is there one you'd recommend?

@torchwood I've never had a positive before, but I've also never been pregnant, so who knows.

It's very, very rare to be late and have a pregnancy test not be accurate. Possible, but rare. It's much more likely that you ovulated late. Many, many things can mess with your cycle; Illness, stress, sleep changes, new diet/exercise, travel, ect ect ect.

My advise would be test once a week until you either get AF or a BFP.

It's a very long shot, but some women never metabolize hcg (which hpt's test for) into their urine, so they can't get a positive on a urine test. Have you had a positive before?

Thanks for the insights, ladies. I wish there were a way to know, but it sounds like it's probably still a negative.

You could have ovulated late and aren't as late as you think you are, but otherwise it'd be very unlikely.

I was on the pill for 10+ years before TTC. In those years I had one month where it skipped completely, not on purpose. I thought maybe I was pregnant? But negative tests. AF came back the next cycle right on cue.
Then, when TTC, I must've ovulated late because during the time I though AF was due there was nothing, and kept getting negative tests until 10 after. Then I got a positive.

This may be completely moot because no one can know for sure, etc., but I was looking for anyone who could tell me if it sounds like I am or am not pregnant. I'm 2w 4d late, but had a negative test on Saturday (at 2w 1d late). I'm almost never late (~3 times in the past 10 years) and have never been more than 2 weeks late. I'm having nausea, dizziness, fatigue and an insane amount of bloating. Has anyone had a false negative that late? Is that even possible?

I had a well visit appointment scheduled with my Dr. for a week from Friday, and tried to move it up but they couldn't, and I would love to hear from anyone with experience with either false negatives or weird symptoms combined with very late periods.
