@Msglass: Congratulations!!! I was going to comment the other day but didn’t want to sound crazy—my testing followed basically the same pattern as yours and I also had a negative digital that freaked me out. Turned out I got my first very faint positive at only 8dpo so it was just so early for some of the tests.

What wonderful news during these trying times!!!

@Msglass: congratulations! With my first I had a barely positive frer, negative digital, and then a few days later a positive digital. It’s such a relief to just know. Very exciting!!!! Did you show DH?

@crazydoglady: thank you. I mainly just want to have a definitive answer. I don’t want to come across as insensitive to anyone who may be struggling to conceive. We definitely want a third baby. Right now I’m just ready to know one way or another. This emotional roller coaster is killing me.

So test sensitivity means the test is *at least* that accurate, but they may be more accurate - you just can’t count on it. I have had frers show a faint line for very low hcg, but you can’t assume that every test in a brand is equally accurate at that low level, just that they all are at least as accurate as stated. Which is why sometimes progression on tests is misleading also, unless you wait a decent time in between tests. Hope that is not too confusing!

Bottom line, I think you must have some hcg in your system to get a variety of positives, but it may be too low to ping every test yet. In a few days you should know more by whether the hcg is increasing and getting darker.

I’m so sorry for the limbo - I know it must be torture when there’s so little to keep one from obsessing!!

@Msglass: I believe they work just like regular hpts, so any second line is indicative of pregnancy. The only test I know that always gives you a second line is an opk whether digital or not. This is the inside of someone's test ( for reference.) Your test very well could be accurate. As for the test above, I am awful with squinters. I hope you get an accurate answer very soon as this limbo must be really difficult. :goodluck:

@crazydoglady: doesn’t that invalidate the results? Also I think they always have at least a faint second line even if they are negative. The top test had a faint line on it so at least that feels a little reassuring to me.

Well, I tested again today with a FRER and one of the First Response digital tests from the “Test and Confirm” set. I also tested with a Clearblue Digital again but it came up negative. Here’s the result of the First Response test though....should I trust these tests? I’ve heard of a lot of people getting false positives from the First Response digitals.

@Msglass: as hard as it is waiting a little time (atleast a couple days) before testing again it will (if you are pregnant) give your hcg time to double and then that line will either be the same or darker. The wait is the worst - for both side of wanting or otherwise.

@CatchAFallingStar: I have more tests coming from amazon on Saturday (which feels like an eternity away). I’m just confused because I heard that the First Response Rapid Result needs like 100 miu of hcg for anything to show but the Clearblue digital came up negative. So I’m not sure what’s happening. I’ve heard a lot of negative reviews of First Response tests recently. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

I stopped trusting FRERs when I was TTC my second. I’m not saying a light line on a FRER is a negative, but I also don’t say it’s positive anymore unless there is an obvious LINE. It’s really unfortunate that they’ve become so unreliable 😕

I stopped using FRER last year. I got two positives when I clearly wasn't pregnant. They were even two different batches of tests. I would just keep testing with different brands.

@Msglass: Digitals are typically much less sensitive than dye tests (25 mIU/ml for digital vs 6.3 mIU/ml for FRER.) You may very well be pregnant and it's just too early, but I had some really convincing false positives on the FRER and switched to the 88 cent Walmart brand. One time, I took apart a FRER test, flipped the test strip over, and I could clearly see from the inside that it was an indent. I hope you get the answer you are looking for! :goodluck:

Just took another one with first morning urine and I also took a clear blue. I’m kind of confused because the digital is negative and I’ve read that the first response rapid results are less sensitive than even the digital tests. I still see a line on both of the first response rapid results but maybe they are just crazy evaps. I’ll test again in a few days to be sure,

@JennyPenny: it’s so reassuring to know it’s not just me. With the pandemic happening and the feelings that come along with a new pregnancy, I feel pretty anxious and lonely at the moment since my husband is still under the impression that the test is negative. He thinks the test line is supposed to be as dark or darker than the control for it to be positive 🙄
