Tada! Don't mind the all mis-matched linens. Two nights in and it's working out pretty well!

@snowjewelz: We've had DS sleep with us on 3 different occasions since Oct (when we was sick or in a new place while on vacation) and it was such horrible sleep for DH and I. Having a huge bed sounds awesome for snuggling and watching movies though!

@ElbieKay: Ahh! I don't know how this will all work out, but I hope it does!

@oldschooolmama: We coslept with my first for 2 years already and it was a great experience, for our family we love cosleeping! Everyone truly sleeps great. And we've gotten creative to not rely on our bed/bedroom to spend quality time haha so we are okay on that front too

@arosebyany: I researched for hours! Our frame is 15" and our mattress is 12". I ordered a frame that's 18" and a 10" mattress so I hope this works out haha. I'll def come back to post a pic!

@snowjewelz: you are living my dream!! DS, DH and I share a king and a lot of times it's too small. I would love to add a twin to it, but the bed frame is so high on our king, I don't know how it would fit. Regardless neither DH or I are anywhere near ready for DS to leave our bed (he's 2) so It is what it is lol. 😁

I really hope it works out for you and your family. I have too many negative experiences with co-sleeping to do it. In my experiance kids who do-sleep are the absolute worst sleepers. The longer you wait to transition them to their own bed the harder it will be in the end. I don’t think parents sleep that great either and I think marriages suffer if it is a long term thing.

We never really shared our bed with our son when he was a baby other than post 5am nursing sessions and maybe the occasional challenging night.

At 18mo he went through a terrible sleep regression and wanted to party and keeping him in bed felt like my fastest path to sleep. It was awful and lasted 3mos.

Then he still woke up in the MOTN but would go back down really quickly if I brought him into bed. I never wanted to deal with trying to get him back to sleep in his crib because I never minded sleeping with him.

So we upgraded from a Queen to a King so we'd all fit.

Somewhere in there my husband started snoring and I started to kick him out of the bedroom because I could not sleep.

And at some point I got lazy about putting my son to sleep in his own bed because we keep him up kind of late and it's easier to just make him snuggle in bed with me so I can pass out too.

So now I am in a pickle because I found out I am pregnant with twins and have maybe 3-4 more months before I probably won't be able to tolerate sleeping with him. He likes to "share my pillow".

We have to do a construction project to build a third bedroom and move him in there probably in May, a couple of months before my due date. I really cannot imagine dealing with twins in the MOTN along with a 4yo who also needs snuggles.

Excuse me while I go weep and research how to spend my life savings on a night nurse to preserve my sanity.

@Mamatimes3: DH is a big guy so we don't really fit 4 on a king! I wish we did so we didn't have to figure out how to expand the bed for so long!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Haha king was great for 3 of us but not so great for 4 since DH is a big guy!

@mrsbubbletea: I know how you feel! I didn't transition DD1 to her own room till DD2 was born (total fail), and it took her a month fighting it to accept it, so that's why I just left this configuration alone for so long. Plus DD2 was up a lot, so I figured at least DH gets sleep with DD1. Now just felt like the right time to get everyone back together! And if it doesn't work out, we'll just give away the crib (that was never used lol) and move the twin bed in the nursery for whatever haha. So I figured we can't "lose" here.

@snowjewelz: I have so many mixed feelings about it! It helps me feel close to my boy, because he’s so sweet to cuddle at night and during the day emotions can be so all over the place. I wish he was ready to give up his nap, he goes to bed so late these days but when we skip it’s like the littlest thing can set him off! My daughter is only 11 weeks, and she is getting into a late night thing lately where she wants to be awake and nursing a lot until 10 or 11... and then she sleeps a nice stretch! But sometimes my son doesn’t go to sleep until she and I are down for the night. I also had this little fantasy that this time things were going to go differently and she would sleep independently in a crib. I obviously didn’t hold too much in that idea since we don’t even own a crib! I have mixed feelings in general for sure.

I also think it might be the time now if I want to make changes for my son so things can get routine before I go back to work...

We bedshare. I’ll admit it’s not the best sleep for me every night since LO moves all over the place, but it’s my normal now. When DH is home he starts out in the bed, but at some point goes elsewhere. He’s really paranoid about rolling over LO yet LO is notorious for climbing on us in the MOTN. We have a king. I can’t imagine making our bed even larger.

We started out bedsharing with a queen and then sidecarred our crib for a bit of extra space. DS (21 months) never really slept in the sidecar though so we recently upgraded to a king and it's been AMAZING having extra space. If our bedroom was bigger we would add a single bed on the side or do something someday for a bit more room for the next baby. Enjoy your extra space!!

@mrsbubbletea: I know we thought about this for SO long and finally pulled the trigger b/c DH has a work trip for 2 nights next month and it's just easier if they both sleep with me so my mom doesn't have to sleep with DD1. But I did also wait a long time, now that DD2 is 1. I just wasn't sure what kind of sleeper she'd turn out to be and I felt like I had just gotten DD1 into her own bed, I'd just let her and DH get some sleep first. Plus if they had different bed times, etc. I feel like now, they have similar bed time and wake time, DD2 still wakes here & there but I am usually able to just shove a boob in. We're gonna keep DD1's floor bed in her room, I think in case of illnesses, it'd probably be good to separate them.

I basically got a twin xl bedframe/mattress to push up right next to her bed and against the wall and will move our nightstand/dresser to the other side (it'll be kinda ugly, but whatever). I also got a headboard b/c our bed has a headboard so I wanted it to be "even". We toyed around with removing our bedframe/headboard and just make a floor bed, but our bedframe is so nice/expensive, I want to keep using it. Plus I figure DD1 can use the twin bed in her own room later on. And I got that foam bridge/gap thing for the line between the mattresses. So fingers crossed this is gonna work, lol! The good thing is DD1 doesn't nap so it only takes her 10 min to fall asleep, while it takes DD2 nursing for like half an hour to :meh: I was also hoping maybe this way I can wean DD2 from nursing to sleep somehow.......

@snowjewelz: I am so glad you posted this. I have been meaning to reach out to you about this because I knew you’d bedshared in the past and wasn’t sure your current configuration :).

We had gotten my 3yo in his bed for maybe a year, I or my husband would stay with him until he fell asleep and then sneak out. Once I totally weaned him at 2.5, he would wake up as late as 6-7 in the am and I would go sleep with him until we got up. Well, as soon as we spent those nights away from him in the hospital, he’s been firmly back in our bed. The thing is, I don’t really mind it, he sleeps great, my husband seems to sleep great, and I sleep ok aside from being up with the newborn a few times per night! I have this feeling like I need to get him back in his bed, but when I go back to work in a few months my husband will do bedtime three nights a week and I am pretty sure he’ll be back to having them both together. So I don’t want to put effort into getting ds into his bed if he is just going to be back to our bed then!!! My main issue is how I am going to safely cosleep with the baby once she needs to be in our bed full time. For now she does great in the cosleeper but I know those days are short lived.

Ideas I have played around with our bringing ds twin bed into our room, so he has his own space on a different level than us and won’t flail around and kick her! But this is a seriously tiny room. Lol!!! Other idea was maybe sleeping the other way in our bed? (It’s a cal king)

Sorry for the novel!
