@petunia354: I think if it's pouring out, I just won't go, regardless of the temperature! But maybe if it's just drizzling and I can find a poncho, it won't be so bad... not sure!

@Adira: Not having a stroller is a total game changer then! I'd probably make a last minute decision depending on temp and how hard it was raining. I like the poncho idea though!

@Revel: Yeah, I was thinking we might just try it. The only bummer is that it's an hour away, so I'd hate to drive out there only to decide it's too wet/cold and have to drive back home.

@locavore_mama: Yeah, I was thinking if we decided not to go, I'd offer to pay them back!

@hellobeeboston: I'm more north! Supposedly it's only going to be 40 (tops) where I am on Sunday!

@Smurfette: Okay, I'll have to see if I can find something!

I'd make a game time decision. If it's raining (or clearly about to) when its time to go just say sorry-- I have a baby who can't be out in cold and rainy weather. Seems reasonable to me.

@Adira: Target, Walmart, any drugstore sells them. With the umbrella's. they usually have a head cover, so that would keep you dry, but I think you could just move it up so it cover over him, but he would still be getting air. Or carry an umbrella for head coverage, but the poncho would be incase the rain blows from the side. I am going to guess that the IL's won't go if it is pouring out anyway.

I'd play it by ear... Can just one of you go for a bit? Are you in MA? It's going to be like 55 degrees Sunday! You may be fine! Sounds like a nice event -- they should understand if its cold am wet not to have your baby out in that!

@Adira: If I were you I would plan to still go for lunch and gifts. Then if by then it starts to rain just bow out and go home. You guys bowed out of dinner, right?

LO is forever sick from daycare so honestly I would not want her out in the cold + rain for 2 hours despite how well I can cover her up. I would probably offer to give my ILs back the $ for the tickets though if I don't go.

I'd wait and see. If it's not pouring or super windy, an umbrella might work fine with the Ergo, depending on the crowds. Is it the kind of thing you could try out if the weather was poor and then leave early if you or Xander were uncomfortable?

@Smurfette: I'm not sure with a poncho I'd be able to keep his head dry? Unless he was under the whole thing, but I think he wouldn't like that, haha. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find one this week! Where do they sell them? I've never seen them at Target or Walmart, but maybe I'm not looking in the right section...

@locavore_mama: Oh yeah, I definitely don't intend to make a decision before I see what the weather is actually like! Plus it's currently only a 50% chance of rain. But I want a plan in place so I know what I'm doing if it is cold and rainy instead of waffling the day of and being indecisive! And yes, we're getting together earlier for lunch and to open gifts, so I can do that part regardless of the weather!

@Adira: If it is really cold, I wouldn't go but I would wait till that day to make the call. Could you get a cheap poncho, so you can wear it over him in the Ergo and then he will stay dry?

@Mrs. Jump Rope: It'll be in the 30s probably! The forecast is a high of 40 and we'll be getting together in the evening.

@petunia354: Oh, I actually don't even have a stroller, haha. I was going to use the Ergo in the hopes of keeping him warm! Just not sure how I'll effectively keep him dry... I can use an umbrella, but those aren't always very effective, especially if it's windy.

I would probably make a decision that morning because the weather people are never right anyway. If anything bring a stroller with a rain cover. If I remember correctly you guys have other plans that day besides just the stroll right?

I would pick up a rain cover for my stroller or a bundle me! We have the JJ Cole arctic or urban bundle me which is weather proof and I used it yesterday in the 15 degree temps in snow/freezing rain. We also used it on Boston month ago for a few hours when it was snowing and below 30, it was so warm in that thing that he didn't even need a jacket. It works like a dream!!

It depends on how warm it is. It rained here on Halloween but was 60* outside, so I took Chloe to a few houses under an umbrella. She loved to splash in the puddles!

If it wasn't that warm, I would have to cancel my outdoor plans (if it was cold AND raining).

Okay, I need advice (which may not be needed, but I like to be prepared). We're having a family get-together with my in-laws on Sunday. The main activity is going to a candlelit stroll in a historic village. Basically the whole village is all lit up and you just walk around the village and go into the houses and check things out, etc. The majority of your time is spent walking around outside.

According to the weather, it might rain on this day! I don't have a lot of waterproof clothing for myself, let alone Xander (9.5 months), and the thought of us both being outside in the cold and rain for ~2 hours is making me nervous. If it's raining and cold, I REALLY don't want to go for Xander's sake (I think we'd all be cold and miserable), but FIL and SMIL have already bought tickets for us to attend this event.

What would you do? What do you think I should do??
