You can sue people for whatever you like; has nothing to do with whether you will collect or not, or what you would actually collect.</p> <p>When you file a suit like this, under the pretense (whether justified or not) that action wasn't taken that could have been taken and you are looking for changes to existing policies, the point is to ask for enough compensation that the organization has to be forced to change the way it operates. If you sue a multimillion dollar company for $500k, it's cheaper to pay out and go about their business. If you sue them (and win) for 100M; you get changes.
