She would be mad and uncomfortable and it would ruin the whole thing. On the other hand my MIL would not care at all. SO I would really think about how your parents would respond. </p> <p>I like the dress you posted! I would use that to make a palette - pull the various blues and either some of the coral/pink or yellow depending on what people look good in. We had everyone wear shades of blue and white/cream. It worked really well. Also, if you get B&amp;W copies it doesn't really matter what the colors are. I'm not sure of your kids ages but our 3 year old had no desire to hold still for any pictures. Some of my favorites are of him and my daughter just running around being silly. Pick a general colour family that you'd like everybody to tie into and go with shades of that, and then throw in a few pops in another colour family. I'd probably pick blue because that's my personal favourite, plus it gives you lots of options and makes bottoms easier, and then add some yellow to brighten it up - maybe a yellow polo here, yellow shorts there. You'll probably want to stay away from too many other patterns but try to work in maybe some other textures - linen, maybe a sleeveless sweater with a bit of texture to the knit or something. So far they do not know about the photo shoot. I think they'll be really thrilled, but it makes outfit planning hard. So:</p> <p>1. When do you think we should tell them? If not until we're on the trip, should I try to choose clothes I think they'd like that "go" with the family's outfits? I don't want to be matchy-matchy, but my dad's a t-shirts or plaid kinda guy, so I'm just not sure what we'd end up with if we don't do any planning.</p> <p>2. Help! I don't know what any of us should wear. We don't live anywhere near a beach, and today it was like 15 degrees, so I'm having a hard time visualizing. I truly don't think I have anything appropriate, so I'll likely need to purchase something. DH might have a neutral enough polo shirt, but I'm absolutely open to purchasing for anyone. I do have a dress I love for DD, and I'm kind of pulling inspiration from that, but I'm also not committed--if something works better for her, that's totally fine. </p> <p>Thoughts? Advice? Direct links to the perfect dress? (I'm a pretty plain Jane dresser, so anything too far outside comfortable/casual will likely make me feel uncomfortable.)</p> <p>Thanks! </p>
