@Mrs. Jump Rope: I'm not a fashion or photography expert, just wanted to day I LOVE that outfit :) I wore a similar white skirt in my maternity photos last time around and the pics came out great, so I would feel comfortable doing white again. And I think the coral top looks great!

I found this pic and fell in love. Are we still voting white as a no-go?

I think a short, empire waisted dress would look cute and let you show off your bump if you just held your tummy in your shots. Speaking of navy and coral, this dress looks cute and inexpensive and would look cute with like a white short sleeve shrug or cropped cardigan.

http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-1720755/oh-baby-by-motherhood-floral-crochet-lace-dress-maternity.jsp?color=Coral

I think DH would look good in like khaki shorts, a button down shirt with rolled up sleeves, and some sandals. And I'm definitely pro-romper on little girls!

And this could be total overkill, but if you wanted to incorporate the nursery theme, maybe you can have C hold a little stuffed flamingo like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Melissa-Doug-7632-Scarlet-Flamingo/dp/B004PBF1Y0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1397681229&sr=8-1&keywords=stuffed+flamingo

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I rented an Isabella Oliver dress similar to the one that @Silva: linked to from Mine for Nine. It was a tank dress and I felt SO good in it! That's the picture I attached.

I also had an Old Navy dress similar to the other dress she posted, and I LOVED that dress.

this is obv. way too much money, and long sleeved- but what about something fitted/ruched with a longer, light cardigan?

I had a fitted maternity dress and it looked super cute and was very comfortable. showed off the belly in a great way.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: A longer cardigan may work if you're worried about hips. If it is loose sometimes it's a good accessory because it skims down de-emphasizing curves but still allows the bump to stick out. I have a similar issue (short and a bit pear shaped), and for my maternity pics (which I'd share except I don't have them back yet, sob lol) I did a long navy dress with a very thin cardigan and also a pair of jeans with a tank top and cardigan. Attaching pics of what I wore, although not nice photos obviously lol. A selfie from when I was trying to pick which top to wear, and then one from my baby shower where I am making a horrible face but its the only pic I can find of me in the dress/cardigan I wore that is somewhat in profile haha.

@Mae: I'm so glad you chimed in! It's great to get a photographers perspective. I'd ask mine but she's having a baby :)

I love the idea of a skirt because it's so comfy but I am short and worried it would look bunched around my waist. And, I'm all hips and butt so I don't want my curves taking over the photos if that makes sense. I don't want people to see the pics and think whoa look at te hips! I wonder if a skirt would emphasize them instead of work with them..

I'll search around for skirts and dresses & see which looks better on me.

My husband would definitely want to wear pants.

And I love the coral romper. It's a cute & subtle nod toward little sissys nursery colors!

We went casual and with stuff we had in our closets. We changed M because she got all floury during a kitchen session. :)

My suggestion would be to wear something you are comfortable in. My husband hates tight things so he wears a button down if it's 30 or 90 out. He would have worn khaki shorts if it had been hot. I would have worn a comfy dress that doesn't pull, that I felt comfortable in. You don't want to be pulling at yourself and worrying that things are falling out. ;-)

So, just one girl's opinion here--- but I"m personally not a fan of the skirt/over-the-bump shirt look for maternity shoots I do. I feel like it just looks a little bit awkward, and I prefer women wear either a flowy dress or jeans/fitted top. If you do a flowy dress you DO have to manage the bump a bit, and pull the fabric in at the bottom, but I think it makes for such a nice casual pose to do that anyways.

Also I don't love when clients wear white. It's not a huge deal if you love the top, it can always be worked around. But it makes proper exposure a little more difficult because it is so bright and reflects so much light (esp in a sunset shoot). If you want to look coordinated but not matchy, I'd say just stick in a color family. Like everyone wear warmer colors (reds/pinks/oranges/yellows) or everyone wear cooler colors (blue/green/purple).

I'd say see if you can find a maxi dress you love and then coordinate your DH and LO to whatever colors are in the dress. For DH I'd say jeans probably (I know it is hot but guys in shorts is always a little off IMO... but if he is going to wear shorts do khaki ones) and then a button down rolled up or a polo in coordinating color. Then maybe a cute dress for your LO in the same color family as your dress.

Here is an example of how to work with a maxi dress in photos.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I really like this maternity tank from Old Navy. It's casual but I love the detail on it. It would look cute with a maxi or this denim skirt!

http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=5801&vid=1&pid=939747002

http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=445296002&vid=1&locale=en_US&kwid=1&sem=false&sdReferer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.oldnavy.com%2Fproducts%2Fmaternity-skirts.jsp#close

For Chloe I really like this romper: http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1010778&vid=1&pid=939447022

Maybe your DH could wear jeans and a yellow polo shirt to match the yellow detail in the romper?

I'm definitely not a fashion expert so I won't be offended if you hate these :)

ETA: I also really love this dress from BG (and it's a tank dress so you and C would "match"). If you went with this one your DH could wear a navy polo and khakis?

http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1010163&vid=1&pid=948436002

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I am useless when it comes to fashion so I will leave that up to the experts but for a maxi skirt try this one, I have it and am only 5'2" but the waist is nice and versatile and I can totally make it work, especially with a bump. Plus it washes beautifully. I think it comes in other colors too, I got it last year in black.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I think since you will be outside white would work. I would do a fun statement necklace to get some color up there though.
With navy, I would then have C is a cute print dress. DH in khakis (shorts or pants), and a shirt that goes with C's dress (not navy since you are doing navy). You want to make sure you all go together and then separate with C. So if she has a striped dress, DH shouldn't have a plaid shirt cause there is too much going on.

@Smurfette: a maxi sounds comfy! I'll have to start searching for one that will work length wise. I'm only 5' tall! Would you do a solid color? I'm thinking navy blue with a white lacy tank.

I agree a tank top and maxi skirt would be cute for you. I find it easier to pick one outfit first and then decide everyone else. Since you are pregnant, I would pick what you are going to be comfortable in and then find DH and C a coordinating outfit.

The most difficult person to dress in my family is my husband, so I'd start with him. Shorts, pants? Button down shirt or polo style?

@Silva: we are a casual family! I don't want to be matchy matchy, but would like to be coordinated.

I would say a tighter tank and a maxi skirt for you. A dress won't show off the bump as much.

Are you more drawn to casual family photos or dressier ones? How matchy do you want to be?

I'm almost 30 and can't dress myself. We have a family/maternity shoot coming up in June. It'll be at the same park we took Chloe's one year photos.

What should we wear? Shoot is scheduled for 6pm, so it'll still be hot and sunny.

Bonus points for pics & links to clothes I can buy!
