The Metra is a very inexpensive and easy way to get to downtown Chicago. I grew up south of Milwaukee, so I always got on in Kenosha, but it seems like there might be train stations in the Milwaukee area as well. The last time I took the Metra is was $5/adult and I think kids traveled for free (on the weekends at least). It's been a few years though!</p> <p>It's a commuter train, so it is not fancy, but it makes getting to Chicago really easy. There will be lots of festivals that are awesome. The Milwaukee public museum is great for kids as well as Betty brinn children's museum. There's a. zoo if you're into that. Discovery world on the lakefront has an aquarium and a bunch of cool science exhibits for the kids to explore. We also have some nice nature centers in the area, as well as a lot of local beaches and trails to explore. I live in Milwaukee! There are so many things to do that time of year! There are always tons of festivals going on downtown, you will have to check the exact dates.
