I despise the stand-up fan. My husband says he is bringing in a BOX fan and I said NO WAY. Ceiling fans are NOT disruptive, other fans are. I hate noise when I sleep and they're so freaking loud!! I feel for you. I do. The other night he wouldn't let me turn on the a/c, said it was going to get cool out, which would cool off our room. Turned two fans plus the ceiling fan on. I was thinking about fans last night because we keep the house at 77 and it's really quite hot if we don't have the ceiling fan going. Our oedi suggested it to keep air circulating to help reduce SIDS risk. Like others have posted, I've only heard that it reduces the risk of SIDS. I did have someone tell me that the "breeze" would cause colic. I too heard that it reduces SIDS but of course growing up in a Korean household, fans at night were a big no-no.
