They absolutely HATE that I am living overseas and can't believe I would choose to raise their grandchild so far away from them. My mom face times us nearly every day so she can see her granddaughter. I love my mom and am really close to her, but man oh man does it get exhausting! I feel like we spend half our day on FT with either my mom or my sister and never get to do half the stuff I plan on doing with LO. I'm sure it will be more at first but then I'm thinking we should "schedule" a weekly session based on some of your comments! (I live in Florida, she lives in NJ, and my sisters are in Armenia and Utah.) My SIL tries to face time me occasionally with her son but I try to avoid it. He doesn't recognize me and loses interest, and I wouldn't face time her by herself, so it can be awkward. We've always been a "together when we're together, not when we're not" type of family...my parents both travelled extensively when i was growing up so it wasn't unusual to go months without seeing one or both of them, and phone conversations were few &amp; far between. Since I've been pregnant we've skyped more because they want to know everything thats going on, so maybe once every 2 weeks? They will be here with me almost up until delivery, for the last 4 weeks-ish of my pregnancy, and then come back again for 6 weeks when the baby is about 8 weeks, so I'm sure I'll get my full fix then! We FaceTime with my dad about once a week and once every two weeks with my mom. I FaceTime with my sister about once a week. We didn't see him again until May 2013, but DS knew exactly who he was and wasn't afraid of him or anything. Same with my inlaws, we last saw them in April, but we will visit them again next week. I've been trying to include her into our daily routine. I live abroad and want to make sure DD recognizes her. But lately she's been acting like I'm obligated to do it. I think it's time to cut all the Facetime. I'm trying to figure out what the "norm" is. </p>
