@lovelife: I just bought some jeans for madewell (on sale for $69 + a teacher discount, holla!) and they are amazing. I got the skinny skinnies with some stretch and I love them!

@lovelife: for which body type? Mine (long torso short legs) or OPs (long legs short torso)?

If its a body type like mine, I wear a lot of shift dresses that hit mid thigh or a tiny bit longer. Short skirts will elongate your legs. I also find dresses that cinch at the natural waist but aren't fitted from there down more straight or a baggy style

@Coco Bee: yep, A&F owns GH and Hollister. Def try some of the A&F ones. I love them. They come in number sizes, not S, M , L (most of them anyways) so they should have some that fit

@LivsMama: Oh I'll have to check out Abercrombie! I did know that they and hollister are all the same company basically. I do like Abercrombie jeans, or I did. I haven't bought a pair in a few years, but I hope I can fit back into my old pair of A&F jeans. I loved them.

@Coco Bee: I was a DM for Abrecrombie (who owns Gilly Hicks) for 2 years, so I know those jeggings. AMAZING. Abercrombie has some that are similar. I have several pairs from A&F that I still wear. One of them were so stretchy they fit me all the way until my due date!

@lovelife: I buy jeans at Lucky and Loft. I LOVE Loft's newer styles of jeans. They are so comfy, sit perfectly and they don't shrink! I always have problems with pants shrinking and it looking like I am wearing high waters. Loft's pants don't do that! :)

Speaking of which...I could wear practically everything in Loft. They make things for women with our body type, I think.

@lovelife: I view jeans as an investment, so I am willing to pay for jeans that fit me great. My absolute favorite pair of jeans are MEK; these are them: http://www.buckle.com/mek-st-louis-easy-boot-stretch-jean/prd-56470W1STLOBE

I LOVE them. They are a soft jean material, so they are so freakin' comfortable. I can't wait to fit back into them (I'm 11 weeks pp and still not back in my clothes :( boo).

I also love most of my american eagle jeans, gap has super awesome jeans too. They have the most amazing pair of skinny jeans that I NEED. They were $80 so I'm gonna wait on them.

My favorite pair of pants right now, because they are soo forgiving, are a ponte pant from Ann Taylor. Also about $80 but so worth it. I wore them before I was pregnant, during pregnancy, because they stretch a lot and they're the only pant that still fit! I love them. (These: http://www.anntaylor.com/ann/product/AT-Apparel/AT-Pants/Slim-Knit-Pants/261536?colorExplode=false&skuId=89875926&catid=cata000014&productPageType=fullPriceProducts&defaultColor=6600 or these: http://www.anntaylor.com/ann/product/product%3A270219/AT-FULL-PRICE-PROMO-STYLES/Knit-Ponte-Front-Seam-Slim-Fit-Pants/270219?colorExplode=false&skuId=10585047&catid=cata000014&productPageType=fullPriceProducts&defaultColor=6600) Totally worth the money!

@mrs. wagon: @LivsMama: ahh I love jeggings too... amazing... When I worked FT we were allowed to wear jeggings (not jeans lol!) and it was amazing! I had a pair from gilly hicks I loved, but they stopped carrying them. And I was already in a large so even if they still had them I wouldn't fit :( boo. I haven't had any luck with old navy jeans, they are never long enough and fit me weird..

@lovelife: I would suggest starting somewhere like Old Navy and trying on anything with a slim leg (boot cut for the widest, don't do flare) and a very very low rise, the lowest you can bear!

I actually love jeggings and own 3 pairs... 2 from old navy and 1 from H&M. They are elastic waisted so they're great for post baby. They do come up high but I always wear long tops so you can't even tell.

I live in jeggings and black leggings!! tunic tops over them, or long ribbed tank tops or t shirts with long cardigans or blazers over those.

@mrs. wagon: Yes! Agree.
My favorite outfits is skinny jeans, boots, and a long cardi (even with jeans, ones that go mid-butt or past your butt work well).

I also wear leggings with nearly every dress i wear, mostly for modesty's sake (it's so hard finding dresses that aren't mid-thigh on us leggy girls!)

I'm the same body type. I wear low-rise jeans and pants - under the belly button (as low as my now-old-lady body can handle) with shirts that come out over the top of the pants. I don't tuck in because then I look like it's 1987 all over again.

To dispute some others here:

For tops, I wear as form-fitting as I can without showing off some chunk. Don't be that girl who wears her shirts too tight. :) Semi form-fitting shirts with low rise pants look very nice on this body type.

Do not wear belts on your pants, if you wear them, wear them over your shirt. I don't wear them because I have a thick waist, not sure what yours is like.

Maxi dresses suck. They don't show off your awesome long legs. Personally, I stay away from them (when not pregnant).

Cropped pants are good, mid-thigh to knee length shorts are good, tunics with leggings are great!! :)

You want to dress to create the illusion of a longer torso and shorter legs. To do this,, wear:

*Design details that draw the eye down, like prints on skirts. This EXCLUDES pinstripes. Those elongate legs
*Bottoms in lighter colors than tops
*long tops - avoid cropped or hip length tops, and wear them untucked when you can
*Looser tops and dresses. Anything clingy will show your natural waist and show off the short area of the torso
*straight or loose skirts - skip tapered or pencil styles. Those elongate legs. Same with pants-straight leg or flare or wide leg - no taper (not that any of us wear tapered pants anymore...but styles like jeggings or super skinny jeans tend to taper. Since you are tall, regular skinny jeans will work)
*empire style is tricky with your body type
*Skip wide belts or natural waist belts. They also shorten the torso
*Avoid high rise pants.

I have short legs and a super long torso, so I feel your pain lol

Oooh! I have a similar body type! I'm 5'8, mostly legs, no torso. And my waistline is directly underneath my breasts, so whenever I tried to do the belt-at-the-waist thing, it looked like I was supporting my breasts! lol awkward!!

For us, we want to lengthen our torso a little. So avoid high-rise pants that give the illusion of long legs (they are a petite girls best friend!).

I have recently found that stripes actually make me look thinner. Usually a wider stripe, not ribbon-sized stripes.
Like this: http://www.polyvore.com/miso_stripe_dress/thing?id=52105277 - but I would have to leave the belt off, because that's not where it would sit on me. Not sure if you have the same issue. Or this top: http://www.polyvore.com/margit_brandt_top_bleste_blue/thing?id=55235184

Maxi dresses as well work great on my body and everytime I wear the one I got from kohls, I get tons and tons of compliments on it! This is my maxi dress: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150283298074690&set=a.429114209689.223371.720689689&type=1&theater (this is similar: http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/zbrandskiosk/juniors/derek_heart/PRD~1093940/Derek+Heart+Geometric+Maxi+Dress.jsp)

Also try to longer tops, as opposed to crop of the ones that only hit the top of your jeans. Those shorten you as well.

Hopefully that helps a little.
I am out of time but I may come back to comment a little more soon!

I agree with Mrs. Wagon, you have the length to pull of skinny jeans, and I would also work with long shirts to make your torso appear longer. Layers will help this a lot!

ooh that's my body type too.

I suggest: skinny jeans or leggings, long tops, long sweaters worn open or blazers. The long layering pieces on top should extend well past your crotch in front and butt in back. This will elongate your torso.

Also, deep V- necks will elongate the area as well. You want to think as vertically as possible.

I've been eating well and walking lately and I was feeling pretty good about my body until... I took a picture. (8 months pp) :( But I think the biggest problem is that I don't dress my body correctly.

I have long legs and absolutely no torso... (i'm 5'7)
What things should I wear? What should I avoid?
What is your body type? What styles work for you?
