@travelgirl1: yes, I'm pretty sure it counts. The light colored ones you can see through, so I don't see why it wouldn't count. The thing that I think you have to balance is eating enough beforehand and not making too drastic of a shift to not eating at all so your supply doesnt completely tank. So maybe ease into it with lighter foods (chicken soup with spinach, salads, lactation cookies, sweet potato, avocado, etc) then go down to the clear liquids? Like I said, I've not done it while nursing, but the next time I prep, I'm easing in so the meds you have to take to prep don't suck as much!

@LovelyPlum: no, they do kind of suck
I did think chicken broth would be a good one. Would pedialite work, it's not clear?

@travelgirl1: Yuck. Colonoscopies are really not very fun. I think it is doable, if you really have to. There were times while nursing that I was sick and didn't want to eat much, but i never fasted. I would have lots of Pedialyte popsicles, chicken broth, Jello and juice on hand for the day before and morning of. You can also slowly prep, but eating less and less solid food the day before if you don't want to do it all at once. I would guess your supply might go down a bit, so make sure to have some good things to eat for after the procedure is done!!

Has anyone had to fast while breastfeeding and has advice about how to keep milk supply up? I have to have a colonoscopy next week and can only have clear liquids for the 24 hours before hand. I was thinking to eat lactation cookies the day before the prep and after the procedure, and drink the tea that is meant to increase supply during the prep stage. Baby will be almost four months old. Hasn't had a bottle before. I have spoken to Mother Risk about the medications and nursing. Any advice gratefully received!

I should add, this isn't my first rodeo, I know I'm in for a gruesome few days, but hoping to breastfeed throughout.
