I wanted to let you guys know that I did get caregivers for both days and it was sooooo much easier on me!

I didn't have to stress about getting him up and taking care of everything so early. He was able to sleep til 8 and he didn't miss a beat - he was just like his usual self! I was even able to nap when I got home :happy:

No advice, just commiseration, and I don't have nearly the stress that care taking a spouse would be. Everyday I think I can't do it, and then I just do.

Is there any way to get some extra care for your DH? Even just having a day or two of respite - even just for evening care would probably be really rejuvenating. It's important to get some time where you can just worry about you and rest :)

ETA: I See that you already are thinking about that! I think it's a really good idea :)

My advice is to outsource whatever you can. I was working long hours while pregnant, and was exhausted throughout. I would get home from work, eat dinner (barely), and go to bed. Working fewer hours was not a reasonable option for me at the time. Fortunately, I have the easiest baby ever, and I was much more tired during pregnancy than postpartum, even with doing all the night wakings and going back to work at 6 weeks.

I'm so sorry. My situation is not as bad as yours but I am about to die from the first tri exhaustion at work today (ok, most days, lol). :sad: I would literally lay down on the sidewalk and go to sleep. I don't know how I will make it through the day! Somehow we will manage.

@macintosh: I'm so glad, I will cross my fingers that they are able to find someone for you for this weekend. :goodluck: Have you even looked into finding someone through Care.com that you could use on an occasional basis? I assume that as your due date gets closer and after the baby comes it would give you some piece of mind to have a couple of back up options in place in case you need some help.

@mrswin: I made the call! The last time I used the service was in August - I had to hunt for the paperwork cause I couldn't remember the name of the company. It's not cheap but should be worth it. Especially if DH is less crabby when I get home. I just hope they can find someone!

@macintosh: Honestly, you should do it. If you have used the service before could you request someone who you have experience with? Even with having to leave a lot of instructions I would think that being able to keep your DH's routine more intact would provide you with some level of relief :heart:

@simplyfelicity: :heart:

@Mrs.Pinecone316: 12 hours sounds brutal! I'm actually pretty familiar with aromatherapy from working for Lush. I sometimes spray a little lavender on my sheets before I lay down.

@autumnlove: A car nap actually sounds great! To bad I don't really get a lunch break during these weekend jobs.

@Anagram: Oh man, I'm so sorry you're dealing with such bad nausea. Mine was like that too, until about 15 weeks. I was on diclegis, which has unisom in it and that made the fatigue worse. Hang in there :heart:

@blackbird: You're not kidding - I haven't been cleaning and we have been eating out so much, which is so expensive. There just aren't enough hours in the day!

@lilyofthewest: Wow, you deserve a medal for doing such a difficult job while pregnant. Nurses are awesome. I'm so glad I just do tech support.

@mrsjyw: thanks!

@mrswin: You know I was thinking about that yesterday, getting a caregiver from a service. We have worked so hard to get to the point where DH doesn't need a caregiver, but it sure would be nice if I didn't have to get him up so freaking early this weekend. I have a service that I've used before, but I'm afraid it might be too short notice. Plus I'd have to leave all sorts of instructions for the person. Considering it...

@macintosh: No advice but I can commiserate. I work on a billable hours requirement and the amount of work/hours right now is insane. I get home most nights and am ready to pass out by 9pm. Like @blackbird: there are many days when I just say screw it and go to bed without doing all the things that I "should".

Is there someone who can help with your DH at all? I know you don't have family around but is there a service/home care nurse that could be of assistance? Also maybe its time to push back a little at work. 8 days in a row is tough on anyone but given that you are pregnant and you have DH to care for something has got to give a little. :heart:

Hugs!! The only reason I'm surviving this pregnancy is my WAH schedule. The first time around, I took a lot of lunch breaks in my car and/or my parents' old apt that used to be a mile from work and squeeze in 20 min naps to get through the office work day.

I'm struggling a bit too. I'm 26 weeks and yesterday I felt so exhausted and slow at work. I know I wasn't keeping up with my fair share, the other nurses were annoyed with me, and I made a dumb and embarrassing error that resulted in having to stay for an extra 40min of mea culpa phone calls, paperwork and fixing. No advice, just commiseration.

Ugh 8 days in a row is a lot of work! I've just been passing out earlier....I've had days where I go to bed at 7:30 and eschew everything else I need to do. I don't clean, I don't do laundry....Order take out or pick up a $5 Little Caesar's Pizza, and go to bed. One night of good sleep really helps catch you back up.

@macintosh: I don't have a good strategy, just commiseration. I am right there with you. I have to wake up at 5:30 am and leave the house each day by 6:40 am with LO. She is still waking up 1-2 times a night and last night screamed from 2-3 am. I am sick 24/7 and am on 3 anti-nausea medications (Zofran, Reglan, and Unisom), the last two of which knock me out. I work from 7:30-3:00, then pick up LO for the 1 hour commute home and then have to push aside my nausea to prep her dinner, feed her, bathe her. At work, I am a zombie thanks to the meds, but being sleepy is better to me than being even more nauseous so I choose sleepy and keep downing the meds. I take 2 full tabs of Unisom during work hours and fight to stay awake, haha.

My husband doesn't get home until her bedtime. Every single day I think that I can't do it anymore. And then the next day, I wake up and do it again.

I cry about every other day. But I've been through this once before with LO and I know that I'm lucky in that for me (at least, last time...hopefully this time), this nausea did finally go away slowly from 17-22 weeks.

So I just count down.....I have 7.5 weeks until I'm 17 weeks.

I'm sorry, long hours and pregnancy are brutal. My 12 hour night shifts have been killing me too.. One thing I have done recently after having friends swear by it was I started diffusing essential oils to help me sleep better. I know they also have some that are supposed to help with energy too but I haven't tried that yet. I noticed a difference in my sleep, but too soon to know if it really is the oils or just a fluke but it is something natural you could try? There are a lot of online resources for more info.

Hang in there!

I'm 24 weeks (tomorrow) and I am still struggling with fatigue. Until recently I only worked at home, but I now have to travel to client sites several times a week. Some hours are set by the client. Otherwise I would set my own hours, but this is a very busy month and in feeling overwhelmed. If I don't get a nap - and lately I don't - I am simply exhausted by the end if the day.

Today I was awoken at 7:30 am by the gas company doing construction outside my bedroom window. I had to leave my house at 11 for my first appointment and I didn't get home til 8 pm. That would be fine for non-pregnant me, but pregnant me is wiped out.

I also have DH to care for. I put off his nightly bathroom routine to lay on the couch because I am exhausted and having indigestion. Now were going to get to bed late.

This weekend I have to work both Saturday and Sunday - 6:45 am to 5 pm. By the time it's over I will have worked 8 days in a row. Ugh! Last weekend when I worked at 6:45 am, DH was a hot mess for 2 days because he had to get up so early.

Anyone have a good strategy on how to handle this fatigue and still get my job done? Do I have to start saying no at some point? That will be hard, because I work for a very small company and people are depending on me. Anyone want to commiserate?
