They stand up to really cold temperatures and rough play. The best is that they have a cinch at the ankle to customize fit and make sure they stay on snugly, and a toggle at the top (so at calf height) to cinch around snowsuit fabric and keep snow out. Ellie freaks if she gets snow inside her boots (I don't much care for the feeling, either), and if we are out playing and it's below zero I prefer her feet to stay dry. But they are the AWESOMEST. Our kids play in poop on the regular (one of the perks of farm life?) and being able to wash shoes so easily is just the best. Mud, smells, you name it, it comes off like a dream and the shoes look brand new. </p> <p>Unfortunately Ellie has discovered light up shoes. We do like Geox (she's had two pair now), but they would be much better if you only ever wore them indoors. The black and white shell toes go with almost anything, and the three velcro straps are nice for keeping them on and adjusting tightness. But we haven't tried any of the other brands, so I can't compare.
