Carters leggings here too. My daughter is super tall and skinny, at 2.5 she can still wear 18 month bottoms.

All we wear are leggings - those are usually the only bottoms that work for us. Most brands work so long as they are the knit leggings but our favorites are Tea, Boden, And Gap

Same problem- my 2yo is in 12m pants now that she's potty trained (she could wear larger sizes with a diaper) and she's tall! I'm still figuring it out, but so far I can't make it work with structured pants like jeans and corduroys. I think the winter is going to be more dresses with stockings and leggings/jeggings than actual pants.

We don't have that problem at all, but I've noticed that Carter's seems to run skinnier than other brands. GAP/Old Navy tend to be roomier so maybe avoid those?

Cat and Jack, Old Navy, and Oshkosh leggings have been our best bet.

I agree with Carter's leggings for a skinny baby. If you want her to wear other pants that happen to have belt loops, I highly recommend a Dapper Snapper belt! It doesn't get in the way of diaper changes and only costs about $10 on Amazon.

Children's Place has adjustable waist pants in smaller sizes (less than 2T). FWIW my children are not especially skinny, but they consistently wear a size bigger top than bottom, because of long torsos.

My skinny mini daughter lives in leggings in the winter. Target cat&jack have fleece-lined ones. Regular pants rarely work.

Also the two-piece outfits are definitely a no go. My daughter is basically always a size ahead in shirts. In my experience the issue of being tiny gets worse over time, when she was littler she still mostly could get away with wearing the "correct" size but now this summer at almost 2.5 she's still wearing 18 month bottoms (and can wear 2T but 18 month fit better). Good news is we'll have gotten two years out of all her clothes from the last year!

LO is a little bean pole and we have the best luck with Carters, Epic Threads (find at Nordstrom/Rack), some Tea, some Tucker + Tate jeggings (Nordstrom Rack) and my LO has had good luck with some skinny Calvin Klein jeans (found at like TJ Maxx).

Also, yes to what @Mrs.Carrot said about Disney. Disney runs realllllllllllllly small.

We find Carters and Tea Collection to run really skinny. My girl is normal sized and has a hard time pulling them up. Old Navy too, in some styles.

I second Carter's, I find them to run smaller than other brands. Target's Cat and Jack seem to be more narrow as well, in my experience, and branded stuff, particularly Disney, seem to run smaller too. My daughter is small as well, and it was always a bit of trial and error. You can fix pants that are too short with socks, so a better fitting waistband would be my priority, especially if she's getting mobile.

I don't have gread advice but I've found that carters runs more narrow than other brands, at least in boy stuff. I have the same problem with my son and I have no idea what to do with him this winter. He's 24 months, wears 18 months on top, but 12 month on the bottom. I think diapers are the only thing that holds his pants up now as it is.

My petite little girl is approaching her first birthday. Wasitbands are always too big on her! All summer I have put her in dresses and rompers, but now I'm thinking ahead to winter and I know she will have to wear pants. Do I just size down in pants (so put her in size 9 months pants with a 12mo top)? I'm worried they will be too short (but that's better than having them fall off!). We have so many two piece outfits I'm afraid she will never wear because the bottoms and tops won't fit at the same time.

Does anyone know a good brand with smaller waistbands?
