Great tips!!!

M loves her flap books.
Sitting on the bottom of the stair. Getting up. Sitting. Getting up.
Repeat.
Tupperware

@T.H.O.U.: interesting about the yoga! I've been meaning to get into a exercise regimen so it would be awesome if M would "exercise" with me!

We do pudding painting, soap painting in the bathtub, and make our own playdough. DD also has a sensory box and a string and bead set; I haven't let DS try those yet, but I might introduce them towards the end of the summer.

Eta: The kids also build forts out of couch pillows and sometimes we make obstacle courses in the living room using pillows, blankets, chairs, etc...

I have started giving her water colors to paint with a brush. She loves that.

She also loves to sort pom poms into a water bottle and then dump them all out. We also drop the pompoms through a toilet paper tube into a basket.

She loves to help "wash" dishes and fruit at the sink.

Our OnDemand portion of the cable on our TV had a kids Yoga exercise video (10 minutes). She loves getting out our mats (towels) and doing "yoga" with mom.

W also likes to have dance parties (he's recently started spinning until he gets dizzy, lol) and he LOVES hammering toys or drums. Or chasing balloons around the living room.

I plan on trying finger paint soon.

@skibobrown: I have a baby/toddler sized upholstered rocker that W is OBSESSED with. I bought it because it was cute (it had elephants all over it) but he'll spend upwards of an hour at a time sitting down, rocking, pulling a book off the shelf that's right next to him, standing up, and repeat.

(He's 14 months)

ETA - any child 3 and under that enters my house flocks to it. It is a magical chair, lol.

We have lots of different toys where DD can put objects into different shaped holes. She loves that. Also, she has an obsession with chairs right now. On a recent rainy weekend we borrowed a toddler-sized rocking chair from our neighbors. That kept her busy for quite a while -- climb in, rock back and forth, climb out, rinse, repeat!

Opening and shutting cabinets entertains B. JK. Finger paint? Coloring? Puzzles?

C loves fingerpaint. She also really enjoys shape sorters. Shes 14 months old and starting to be able to put the shapes in their holes and the sorters fascinate her. She loves anything with a door/lid she can open and close or anything that is mysical, like drums/pots/jars, etc that she can bang on and make different sounds

I went to the dollar store, bought some bugs and put them in beans. Then bought a bunch of different cups and he would go through the beans and try to find the bugs. He liked that.

I also started doing some beading right now too. Pipe cleaners and large beads were fun.

He wasn't a fan of play-doh but we started doing it at about that age.

LO is a very busy 1 year old. We try to spend time outside as much as possible, but there will be times this summer where it will just be too hot or rainy. Any ideas for activities that I can keep stashed away for times like that? I would love sensory activity type stuff!
