They're so comfortable. I love them.

@mrskc: exactly! If I can see changes in my body I don't necessarily care what the scale says :) I hate diets but could stand to be a little more aware. It's funny, pre-baby I was always so body-critical. Now that I'm PP and realize how hard it is to squeeze into my old size 4's, I realize how misguided I was and how much time I wasted worrying about my body. My hips may never let me be a 4 again (I'm still hopeful) but I agree, feeling strong is where it's at!

I think you need to try a few things and see what works for you!

I was doing more cardio then weights for all of 2015 and didn't lose a LB

The past 30 days I have been doing less cardio and more weights and I lost 4.5lbs

I would start with something you like and give it 30 days - if you aren't seeing results try something else

@ldh112: regarding the pantry liners... I'm four YEARS post partum and still leak during jumping lol so i ended up buying some underwear from dear Kate's and omg I LOVE THEM. They are made for leakage, and I got the sport style. Expensive, but worth it.

I love the YMCA! Been a member there for about four years.
I definitely like to mix it up, one class that has always been a favorite though is body pump. It's high reps weights. It's so good for maintaining muscle mass while losing fat, and will overall tone.

My other favorites are mat Pilates or yoga once a week, and I've enjoyed the HIIT and tabata classes.

The boot camp classes are hard core and an insane workout. I can't always keep up with them but it's a great workout.

Have fun!

Try different classes and find what you like. If you enjoy it, you'll be more motivated to go.

I started at the gym in July taking classes. I've officially become addicted to them. lol My favorites are a body pump class and a body combat (punching, kicking, etc). Except I can't do combat right now because of an ankle injury and I miss it sooo much. I've been doing some cycling classes which I hate.

Try a class at least 2-3 times and with different instructors. Sometimes you might hate it the first time and love it the next and a lot depends on instructor too.

Good luck! I actually haven't lost much weight since starting at the gym but I definitely notice how much stronger I am. My love affair with chocolate isn't helping tho. lol

I try to make it to Pure Barre at least three times a week. I also got stuck with ~10lbs to go and between PB and Weight Watchers, that weight is finally coming off!

I'll echo what others have said about finding what appeals to you. I prefer low-impact exercises, and PB is both challenging and achievable (if that makes sense). I find that taking a class at a scheduled time and place holds me accountable, plus I know I have to attend a certain number of classes to make my Baby Bounce Back package a good value.

And if losing weight is your main goal, don't forget to watch what you're eating also. I didn't see results on the scale until I started doing WW online. They give nursing women plenty of extra points so I'm never left hungry, just making wiser choices. Good nutrition and exercise are both integral parts of healthy weight loss :)

@ldh112: hahaha, yes :) Women lose bone density after 30, too, which weight bearing exercises help you gain back. Maybe if it's in a class, you won't notice it so much! I flounce around a lot unless i have a specific plan. Plus, even if you hate lifting....you'll see more changes that way, which is motivating hopefully ;)

@blackbird: I usually have stuck to the elliptical and done a random class here or there at the gym previously. I think classes will be good for me so I actually push myself a little bit and incorporate strength training. I used to run a lot and have also enjoyed Pilates and barre. Cross fit wasn't my thing. Weights have not been my favorite which means I should probably be doing them right?? Ha!

I like the kickboxing classes at the Y, but mostly because that's all that fits into my schedule, haha. I usually go to classes twice a week (one kickboxing, one a mix of kickboxing/weights/core), then do cardio (running or elliptical) twice a week.

My favorite classes depend a lot on who's teaching them. I'd probably check out a few different ones (especially if they have special beginner ones!) - and let the instructor know it's your first class.

And just a heads up - if you had a vaginal birth, you might want to wear a pantyliner to any classes that do a lot of jumping. :meh:

It's not offered at the Y, but I love OrangeTheory. Basically, it's interval training with cardio and weights, so something along those lines would probably work. I haven't lost much weight (only five pounds before I got PG) but I did lose inches and I'm getting stronger.

I think finding something you like and will stick with is key. I have friends who love bootcamp classes, which I hate. I love spinning, and they find it boring. Make sure you get a good mix of cardio and weights throughout the week!

So, its 7 months PP and working out from home as planned has not gone well. By that I mean it has not even happened! :silly: We joined the local YMCA yesterday, which financially is a bit of a stretch, but I think its the motivation I need to get back into a workout routine.

What classes have you enjoyed/seen results from PP?
Spin/Weight/Pilates, etc? Do you mix it up? How many times a week do you go? I have about 8-10 lbs to lose (my old clothes still don't fit, hello hips I never had...)
