I agree with Houszz for inspiration and YouTube for skills. You might need to focus on archives, but blogs of other people's home changes that would be worth checking out and haven't been mentioned: Jenny Komenda's Little Green Notebook, Daniel Kanter's Manhattan Nest, Victoria Elizabeth Barnes, Centsational Girl, Sarah M. Dorsey, Lauren Liess, Peppermint Bliss... It's not entirely relatable because they seem to have endless money, and decorate everything in white despite having twin toddlers. But they have renovated two beautiful old homes and done a fantastic job maintaining historical accuracy. We bought an older home, which means ongoing projects, but we really enjoy it. We tried to take on too much st the beginning, but now have ways to pace ourselves (like, we take on one major thing a year).<br /> If you don't have tools, be prepared for that major expense (although my family helped out a lot around birthdays and Christmas with that stuff). </p> <p>There are YouTube videos for everything! Going back out to see it with a contractor but in the meantime we are trying to think through what we would have to do right away and down the line. </p> <p>Any favorite sites for home improvement inspiration, how to things, etc? I've found decoration inspiration but this is beyond that. Both excited by the possibility and terrified that it will be way worse than we think and we will regret it... </p>
