@ldh112: my mom sells Amway and I was (still am) skeptical about the hype but I did try some shampoo samples and now I'm hooked. Currently on my 5th or 6th bottle (the biggest size) and that's the only brand I'll use now. I have thick slightly wavy (slightly frizzy) color treated hair and it keeps my hair shiny and healthy. No residue and clean light fragrance. Both the pink (for color treated) and orange (moisturizing) colored bottles are good, and the economy size that I use is about $20 which is comparable if not cheaper than salon brands. The orange one is very moisturizing and softening though I marginally prefer the pink one due to the color treated formulation.
Another one I like is Joico, if you don't have access to an Amway seller. I used the bronze-gold colored bottle which is for color treated/damaged hair. Leaves hair super soft and silky. I get it for about $15 for the biggest (economy) bottle at TJMaxx/Marshalls.

@ldh112: I'm not sure exactly. It's the new line of treatments from L'Oreal Professional: Revive, Restore, and Re-something. I don't know which one he wants to use. You get a take-home product which is good for 6 weekly maintenance treatments, so at least it's not just the treatment itself. I hate being conned into doing something, but the last few inches of the top layer of my hair is so dry and brittle looking.

@ldh112: Yeah, I haven't found anything that beats All Soft - I'll keep an eye on this thread in case anyone has an awesome recommendation!

I use Biolage Smooththerapie Deep Smoothing Shampoo and Exquisite Oil Crème Conditioner and it does a good job (and smells amazing!). I only use it about every other day, alternating with cheap Pantene to keep costs down.

@Raspberries: Oops! I actually meant All Soft. I think it's been better than others I've tried but my hair seems to be getting used to it. It's my go-to at the moment. :)

@Astro Bee: Yeah, I hear about treatments and am skeptical. Is it a keratin treatment or something? I feel like it would just be temporary and require occasional maintenance. I wish my curls dried nicely. As I have gotten older they are not as pretty, so I have to dry it straight.

@rachiecakes: I've actually used some travel sizes of those from when I stayed at a hotel in NYC a couple years ago. I did like it!

Following! I have the same problem, and the same hair type, although it feels even drier/more damaged lately. My hairdresser's husband wants me to get a treatment done (they are co-owners of the salon), but he is always pushing treatments/products that I ignore, and it's over $100 for the treatment alone!

Ha, I was just going to recommend Redken! I think their All Soft line gives me better shine/smoothness than their Smooth Lock though.

I have naturally wavy/curly hair that is prone to major dryness. I use a round brush when drying in order to smooth it out and wear it straight. I feel like my hair gets used to shampoo/conditioners/serums after using for a couple months and stops looking shiny/smooth. Any recommendations? Most recently I've used Redken's All Soft line. I prefer to spend under $40 total (but typically I try out travel sizes first just to see what I think).
