@Smurfette: How do you mean her hands come out of the bottom? I wrap her like this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sjWO3PMTHU

DH also doesn't always wrap it as tight and she did manage to get one arm out before.

* The first time I used it, I didn't realize there was a bottom pocket, so maybe her hands stuck out?

We like the swaddle me swaddlers bc the Velcro is so easy to undo. A likes his hands up, so we can position them better than in the miracle blanket, and can even "swaddle" him with hands out.

Summer infant for the first 3-4 weeks then she hated it. Spent a week sleeping on the couch with no swaddle. Then we moved to the crib & used the miracle blanket - she magically started sleeping through the night. When we started to wean, we used the woombie for a few weeks. I loved all 3 at different times for different reasons!!!

My first loved the A+A blankets and stopped needing to be swaddled around 4 months (even though he was not yet rolling over at that point it stopped helping him sleep). My younger babe is all about the miracle blanket. So yes all babies are different...

We tried the a+a blankets, halo swaddle sleepsack, swaddle me, and woombie. The only one that works is the Miracle Blanket. He cannot even be able to remotely move his arms or he will detect there's a chance of getting out and will keep himself up trying to wiggle out, growing more and more pissed. Sometimes he hates getting trussed up in the MB but once he's in he falls asleep so much faster and stays contained and asleep. It seems complicated but it's really simple and it takes me like 10 seconds now (though DH sucks at it).

Can't speak to weaning since he's 11 weeks and still has to be swaddled. He has major Pinocchio arms and has been obsessed with inhaling his fist, but isn't good enough at it yet for it to soothe himself -- it just keeps him awake lol.

@Foodnerd81: We also use the Swaddlemes. If I'm not holding her, I always swaddle Sadie for naps, because she loves to punch herself in the head & cut her face open with her little nails while she's sleeping. She always wakes herself up if she's not swaddled. I usually do a loose swaddle with A+A's for naps in her swing, but for night sleep or if she's napping in my bed I always use a Swaddleme since they're so tight and wiggle-proof. They're inexpensive & work wonders for us!

ETA: Sadie is 10 weeks & we're not going to swaddle wean any time soon. She does so well in it, I don't see the point of stopping. I plan on losing the swaddle when she's able to self soothe... otherwise I'll be in there all night, every time she punches herself awake.

DD broke out of the miracle blanket, woombie was too tight on her neck (didn't realize that was such a common problem) , she broke out of an a&a swaddle and mashed it into her mouth, then we got the Velcro halo and she flipped onto her belly. Swaddling was just not for her. We quit trying when she was three weeks old.

We started with A&As but ended up preferring the Halo swaddle sacks (in fleece since she was a December baby). Our ped said to stop swaddling at 3 months, so we transitioned to regular sleep sacks then. We had the same issue with woombie being too tight around her neck. Her face started to turn purple when we put her in it - scary parent fail.

K hates being swaddled! After balking at the price of the Miracle Blanket, I finally broke down and bought one. It's the only one she hasn't been able to break out of and I went out and bought a 2nd one! Besides that, I like the A&A large swaddle blankets. I can swaddle her in those too if she's already asleep.
The Summer SwaddleMe and Halo Sleep Sacks just make her MAD! We had one swaddlepod too and that was awful. But this is just my LO - who fights the swaddle like a mad lady!

I bought one of each type (used) to see what we liked. Miracle blanket was too complicated woombie was too tight around his neck halo sleep swaddle sacks worked well as did the Velcro summers infant type ones. Aden and anais got tedious after a while but I use the blankets daily for other things. We stopped around three and a half months when he rolled.

We loved the Summer Infant velcro swaddles. The velcro did start to wear out, so we needed to rotate through a few of them. On cold nights I would add an extra swaddle layer w/ an Aden and Anais blanket on top (mostly for warmth, not containment). We stopped swaddling DD at 3.5 months when she was showing signs of getting very angry at her swaddle. She never really liked being swaddled though... I know lots of moms who swaddled for a lot longer. In our case, DD slept through the night starting as soon as we stopped swaddling her.
