My MIL gave me twothings before our flight around that age:
-a partial stack of playing cards and a zip pouch (like a makeup bag) to put them in. He loved laying them out on the tray and picking them up and putting them away. Over and over.
-a days of week pill box. Put snacks in each and she canwork to open close each one.

Both are small and kept LO entertained, although our flight was much shorter. Good luck!

Also bring a surge protector, you will need all the outlets you can get.

Also, please do not pace the aisles, use it only as an absolute last resort. It's annoying when I am sitting in an aisle seat and as soon as my son sees you pacing, he wants to join in the action as well.

If you still use a pacifier, def. bring one on the plane. @hilsy85: tip on the crib sheet is great if you use a hotel provided crib. You can also bring fluids for the LO even through security so def. make use of that and bring her sippy/cup with her fav. liquid.

Also this blog has some great tips:

Lay them on me! We're flying 6 hours to Hawaii with our 15 month old (her first flight!) and staying in a hotel with adjoining rooms with our in laws.

What I've got so far: bring a night light for sneaking back in the room when LO is sleeping, keep some cheap toys for LO for the flight and bring them out one at a time, have one of us wait with LO to board the plane and get some energy out....

What are your best tips?
