I immediately thought of Niagara on the Lake, it's BEAUTIFUL!<br /> Also, anywhere in the Muskokas (in Ontario), it's AMAZING in the fall and there's lots of tourist attractions and historic things to do. If you plan to rent a car (which I think you'd probably want in Austin anyway) the drive from Houston to Austin is between 2-3 hours. So that could be an option.
