We really like our Motorola ones. Been using it for almost 3 years now and have two cameras for it. The battery doesn't last very long when it's not plugged in, but we mainly keep it plugged in, so that isn't an issue for us.

We have a Levana Ovia and really like it. It just doesn't show temp but they may have new models that might.

I forgot what made us choose Levana vs Motorola and Summer Infant when we were researching!

We just bought the Levana baby monitor off of Amazon. I really like it. The current price is 119, but I got it 2 weeks ago for 79.99. It is way better than our Motorola that we had for LO#1

We ended up with this one after our second Motorola started to have issues (first one just died and the second one had connection issues all of a sudden) and like it a lot so far! The best part is that it's able to cut out some of the background noise (her noise machine) so all of that is quieter and we can hear her better. It has a feature to switch between two cameras every 10 seconds too so we'll use that when LO2 is in her room (the second camera is extra).

I didn't have that particular model, but I used to have a summer infant. I had to get a new monitor when I was expecting #2 (they stopped making the extra cameras for my model which annoyed me). I ended up getting a Motorola and am much happier - the video quality is 10x better and it is way more durable (my summer infant screen cracked after just one drop). This is the one I ended up getting:

So it looks like we'll be replacing our video monitor most likely. And it looks like the newer model (Motorola 36S) has some of the same issues so we want a different brand. What are your favorites and why?

Things we're looking for:
- not wifi dependent
- portable parent monitor (so not iphone)
- able to get extra cameras for future LOs
- camera can pan
- shows temp in room

This is what I'm looking at (although crying inside for sinking the $ right now, especially when we haven't even quite started TTC for LO2) Summer Infant Dual View Digital Color Video Baby Monitor http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EU5AL8W/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1F3VSFNQ56MXY&coliid=I136DIG1YNQGP3&psc=1
