@petitenoisette: hi! How are you feeling? SO READY like me? Looks like I’ll be induced on Friday as long as my cervix is “favorable” enough. I was 3 days overdue with my first when I was induced. I’m 39, so they recommend old ladies like me have inductions after 39weeks for baby’s safety.

@CatchAFallingStar: hi there due date twin! I’ve definitely slowed wayyyyy down the past 2 weeks or so. Before that I was feeling pretty great for being so far along. Now I am just ready to be done but know I could have a long way to go. I went into labor on my due date last time so just assuming will be the same this time. How about you?

Can't believe this post is up either! I'll be 37 Weeks on Thursday and haven't had any cervical checks. I had an ultrasound at 35 weeks and they said he was head down. I think I'm going to decline a cervical check at my appointment on Thursday, but I'll accept the one at 39 weeks, I just don't want anything up there right now. I've been having braxton hicks contractions, but I've been having those since 23 weeks. They kind of feel like they are lasting longer, but I don't notice an increase in frequency, and they don't hurt either, it's just that my stomach gets really tight. I kind of felt a little crampy the last week but it wasm't during a BH it was after and it was pretty mild. Not sure what that is.

@skiierchck99: I kind of think it's all a crapshoot. Last time I was 90% effaced for 2 weeks, 1 cm dilated, no labor, induced, labor took 24 hours & vacuum and LO was delivered 9 days "late."

I can't tell what I feel or when I feel it! Have felt some stomach tightening intermittently which I guess is BH but I wouldn't say it feels like a contraction.

Also re: cervical checks - I've read that effacement is a much better predictor of how imminent labor is than dilation. They haven't offered one yet and I don't know what my plan is for doing one or not...

Hi ladies! I feel like I ghosted this group a long time ago. The reality is I check in occasionally and since my due date is the last day in Feb and I went to 42 weeks with my LO, I've been active in the March group as well.

I can't believe our babies are almost here! I have 5 weeks left and all of a sudden it feels like no time. I think I'll go for the cervical check at my 36 week appt because this baby feels lower and I'm having more BH and more cervical head-bumps than last time. If they tell me I'm at 0, I won't feel bad since I was so overdue last time!

We did the hospital tour yesterday and I got a little teary-eyed in the room--I remembered how intense labor was and also thought "the next time I'm in a room like this my baby will be born!" #hormones

Can't wait to start seeing some February baby pics!

@JJ2626: with my first I had planned to refuse but then my office didn’t even do them until right at the end (at which point I was curious enough to not decline!). I think for this time I will decline again until 38-39 weeks if they happened to want to do one before then.

I totally agree with the rationale of refusing cervical checks excepttttt.... i want to know!!! haha. And my mom is flying out from across the country and we both REALLY want her there for the birth (she was indispensable last time) and she believes dilation is a good indicator so she wants to know, too.

As for what I have left to do:
- Type up babysitting notes for LO1, w/ possibly up to 3 caregivers switching off over 3 days
- Typing up our chore calendar and taking pics of what a clean playroom & living room look like, since MIL, FIL, and mom will be here at various times, helping out
- Make DETAILED plans for work coverage
- Get nails done
- Buy last baby items with Amazon completion registry, 2nd purchase
- Set up house for baby (RnP, PnP, swing, car seats, bottles/pump, activity mat, etc)

I keep being unsure of when to "set up" the big stuff... I don't want to do it too early and have all the stuff in the way, but, don't want to wait too long and do it first day back from the hospital.

@DesertDreams88: ha, I keep checking to see if anyone has posted here!! So exciting  How are you??

We spent most of the weekend getting the nursery set up - finished painting, got the new dresser set up, dragged out all of my son’s clothes and baby things, got out the bassinet for our room, etc, etc. I also finally packed my hospital bag. Definitely feel like I got my nesting urge itched a bit! Although I do think I overdid it a bit; had a fair amount of contractions yesterday, so I’m trying to take it easy today.

@JJ2626: my drs office doesn’t do them, but if they did, I would refuse. I didn’t have them my last pregnancy until they induced me. People walk around at 3+ dilated for weeks, or can go from 0 to fully dilated in a day and less. It’s such a crapshoot and really isn’t a good indicator of labor. Personally, I think it would just stress me out. Plus, it was really painful for me - worse than actual labor :meh: (and I went sans epidural!!). So, do whatever you’re comfortable with, but you aren’t the only one who won’t be getting them! :silly:

@JJ2626: I haven't declined them but I don't find them to be particularly useful either so I can see why you wouldn't want them. With my first I found it to be stressful/upsetting when I wasn't dilated at all, but they don't really bother me either so I've just gone along with it. My OB doesn't start them until 38w.

I haven't had any cervical checks yet. I'm guessing the doctor will start at 36 weeks?

Our house isn't fully ready, but ready enough. I moved the cradle into our room and we have at least some clothes clean. All the furniture is built, but there's still some last minute things to take the plastic off of, take out of the box (Like the changing pad is on the changing table, but it's not unwrapped or covered).

@DesertDreams88: I confirmed the baby is head down and pretty low, but zero dilation....haven't had any contractions and recently only had BH contractions sparingly. One way or the other he'll be here by Feb 2nd though, that's when my c sections is scheduled for.

House is mostly set up...still need to drag the pack n play, swing and rock n play out of storage.

@DesertDreams88: I was dilated to 1.5 last week. Will check again tomorrow when I see my OB. For me, dilation hasn't been a good indication of if labor was imminent but I am still hopeful that it won't be much longer. I still need to set up the pack and play in our room but can do that whenever, or have my husband do it if I don't get around to it before baby gets here.

@DesertDreams88: I do think diarrhea can be an early labor sign, but it can also be because there is so much more pressure down there as you get further along. The past few days I've definitely had more loose stool than usual but no other symptoms so I'm chalking it up to the stool softeners I've been religiously taking to avoid constipation. Haha.

As for as how long...I am with you that it feels like not much time all of a sudden! I have been putting off some of the stuff I know I need to do- set up pack and play, install car seat, pull down swing from attic, finish buying registry needs....the list goes on! I think we will be fine no matter when baby decides to make his arrival, but I really do need to stop procrastinating.

I feel like in the last few days my brain has flipped a switch. Before, it was all like "There's so much time before baby, ugh, so long...." and now I feel like "dang, she's coming soon!" In terms of pragmatics, it's 6 weeks. All of a sudden that feels short!!

Also, anytime I feel "off" or experience some unusual bodily symptom, I'm always wondering if it's an early sign of labor and googling. Diarrhea? Google. Night sweats? Google. Pressure down there and more sciatica than usual? pretty sure that's just pregnancy but.... maybe! I haven't started my daily googling of "chances of going into labor today" though....

Ahh, I can’t believe this thread is up already!! 😱 Haha.

Lots of BH here too, although I had them a fair amount with my first pregnancy.

@DesertDreams88: I had a hard time timing contractions with my induction too, although that was more because I didn’t really feel them a ton until transition :meh:

Can’t wait to see who the first ‘February’ baby is!!
