I think the walls look more blue because your floors have orange undertones. Since orange and blue are complementary colors, they tend to stand out more when they are next to each other. Painting is finished (turned out to be more blue than grey--looked more grey in the store--but we're fine with it). Curtains are up. Furniture is built (though still need to get a crib mattress). Clothes are put away. And we even have some cloth diapers ready to go!<br /> Now all that's left is adding more art/pictures to the walls, getting a bright-colored rug, and waiting to see what we get from our registry. I feel like I've been obsessing and looking forever! I just wanted to be 100% happy with no buyers remorse since all the ones I like are so expensive! And I am very pleased that I ended up getting one that was $500 cheaper than the one I had been eyeing for so long (the monte link I posted above). I never felt 100% about the monte one, which I thought was because of the price but the main issue was the back cushion that makes the chair so comfortable does not stay in place. And I could see it being very annoying to adjust with a newborn in my arms. So today I found a chair that I had seen before but prior only came in a colour I really didn't want. Well that colour (floor model) got sold and they brought out another floor model that was a nice dark, brownish gray. I was hoping for something more in the brown/beige family, but the gray is nice and eventually can go nicely in our basement once this baby moves into his big boy room in a couple of years. I love that this chair I got also reclines with a power button that is very accessible and easy to push - I anticipate taking nice naps with my baby like that :).<br /> It was on display next to some dark brown furniture so I was convinced that it would look ok with the espresso crib and change table we have.<br /> I was in the store for over an hour going between this and the monte glider I thought I wanted so much (and I had to decide today because the monte was 10% off for Black Friday weekend). And for a while I was sitting in the gray chair with DS1 next to me and we both very comfortable and it has better back and head support than the cushiony monte. Did I mention it was $500 cheaper? DH is on board (he doesn't really care too much) so now that I have a plan, I can get moving on all the DIY! </p> <p>The thing that really had me stuck was the wall color. I didn't want to do grey or white and any other color seemed to compete too much with my other ideas. I finally stumbled across a picture I fell in love with - it's a dark olive green used more as a neutral. </p> <p>I'm going to paint the hand-me-down furniture I have - the crib will be yellow and the changing table will be orange. I bought a cool rug a while back and will probably use it. In person, the rug is less pink and more colorful. It's a little feminine, but oh well. </p> <p>The bedroom is on a corner and has windows on two of the walls so I think it will have plenty of natural light. </p> <p>I'm going to keep all the linens (crib sheets and curtains) white and use white for picture frames and trim. Hopefully that will keep it from getting too dark too. </p> <p>I'm going to paint watercolors of Dr. Seuss Characters to frame and hang on the wall. I'm also thinking how I can incorporate different (awesome) Dr. Seuss quotes. </p> <p>I'm going to DIY a few things. A floor lamp with a silhouette of a Dr. Seuss Landscape inside the lampshade, front facing bookshelves, and a reading nook tent. I'm also experimenting making my own felt balls to make garland. We painted and laid new flooring, it was definitely a labor of love.
