I live in New England and last year on February 9 (I'm due 2/6), we had a three foot snow storm. So I'm very interested in what is going to happen with the weather! The hospital where I'd like to deliver is only twenty minutes away though so I think I'll be okay. I am really excited about snuggling with a newborn when it's ugly outside since I hate winter so much though,

We have the opposite problem here and I'm dreading it! Feb is summer time, aka the wet season, and our temps at that time are usually in the mid 90s with high, high humidity. It's the 'bad' time of year and everyone pretty much hibernates in their air conditioned homes from Oct through April! I'm not looking forward to going through late pregnancy and the newborn stage during that time of year. On the plus side, we won't have to worry about weather issues in getting to the hospital, other than the odd hurricane or two!

I think you made the smart move in sticking with the hospital near you - nothing more nerve wracking than trying to get to a hospital an hour away, navigating snowy roads and ice, whilst in labour!

We have a relatively mild winter but that was totally a consideration and why I'm planning for a summer/fall baby. The payoff is pretty sweet no matter what the weather. Snuggling with a newborn on a snowy day is nice.

We actually chose our hospital based on location due to the potentially horrible weather we could have up here. February in Minnesota is notorious for winter storms, blizzards, and ice storms, so we figured the closer to home, the better. While we live in a small-ish town, the hospital is only 3 blocks away. There's a much larger, nicer hospital an hour away, but there's no way to guarantee that I'd be able to make it to the major town, so we figured it was best to stay close and do the best that we can with our smaller (but very decent) hospital.

Does anyone else have crazy weather in February? Did it change up your plans at all? I envy you gals with warm winters...delivering in -20 degree weather is not something to look forward too. Good thing the payoff is amazing :-)
