Lately it seems as though my 14-month old has a love/hate affair with food. Some days she eats like a champion and then the next day (or meal) she is spitting out food that she normally devours. I purposely let my husband deal with the majority of her meals this past weekend (I still made everything since he isn't confident in what to feed her). He is super patient and looked like he was about to pull his hair out by Sunday.

I also figure that she will eat when she is hungry and not to get too stressed! I'm going to ask the pediatrician what she thinks at her 15-month appointment. Hoping her weight gain is sufficient!

DD is the same way as both of your girls, @septca & @chrispygal. There are very few things she will eat on a regular basis. She will almost always eat banana, yogurt, goldfish, raisins, pasta, and cottage cheese. She rarely eats any veggies or meats. I just keep trying and every once in awhile she'll try something new. Luckily, she drinks a lot of milk. I try not to worry but it's hard.

I don't know if it's normal but we're going through food issues too. My daughter was such a good eater and now will not touch a vegetable and pretty much only consistently eats fruit, yogurt, and rice. Sometimes we can get her to eat purdue chicken nuggets (that is the ONLY kind, and usually she will only eat these at daycare), pasta, bacon, black olives, and bread. But it's typically a struggle and it's frustrating as all heck. I keep telling myself she is a healthy weight and she will eat when she is hungry. It's hard to not get discouraged, but I do try and put new things down on her plate even though they just end up getting thrown away. DD is 20 months and we've been like this for about 4 months.

I'm looking forward to hearing others advice or experience with this issue because as much as I tell myself not to worry, I do.

All I can say is that I feel you!!! We have a snow day today and I am at the end of my rope because I know it'll be another all-day battle to get DD to eat anything other than graham crackers, peanut butter, and bananas.

I'm going crazy over here! My son used to be a great eater. He's 18 months old now and he's eating habits are terrible. He basically won't eat anything. Not that he doesn't like it. Everything I feed him is hit or miss depending on the day, but he chews up his food and spits it back out. CONSTANTLY. This happens with everything...even cookies. I can't get him to do anything but drink milk. I know it's normal for toddlers to get picky, but is this normal?? He's driving me crazy and I can't even save the food for his next meal because it is all chewed up and wasted.
