I remember my little sister started eating sashimi when she was 2!! We frequently got huge filets of fresh salmon, and so we would have lots of salmon sashimi... she's been a sushi lover ever since (me too!)

I would have no qualms I about giving my LO the cooked stuff, even if it was shellfish.

But the raw stuff, I don't know? I would ask my doctor I guess. There are so many opinions on baby food.

My LO has had lots of food they say you are supposed to "wait" for, and she is still healthy as a horse!

the cooked stuff is fine, i think. we gave lil' cb the raw kind at 2.5, but he liked the cooked kind better!

I'd feed it to my baby if I trusted it for myself. Protein for the win.

I wouldn't give my LO raw fish.
I've given her cooked sushi and she loves it :) We're gonna get some for lunch today!

@zippylef: I see nothing wrong with the rice and veggies. I assume the question mark is around the fish.

My doc said no sushi before 1 but there seem to be a lot of conflicting opinions so I would check with your ped.

Some doctors say to wait until 2 yrs for shellfish so I'd ask yours first.

DH and I LOVE sushi. He's a tuna person and I love salmon, veggie and crab/shrimp. I know we shouldn't let her have tuna because it's high in mercury.

My question, when can you allow a baby to eat sushi? I figured crab and shrimp would be fine since they are cooked, but what about stuff like salmon?
