I give him breakfast before going to preschool. One of the things that works really well is to make a bunch of smoothie on Monday and freeze it. The night before I pull it out of the freezer and it is smoothie like again in the morning.

I give DS a bottle when he first wakes (5-6:30...) and he has breakfast at daycare around 8.

@irene: We aren't good schedule keepers and anything goes on the weekends. I just feed her stuff from my plate on the weekends! DH just feeds her during the week because he doesn't have time to eat before work.

Food is stressful! :-(

My LO is almost 17 months and she started daycare at 13 months. We fed her breakfast before sending her off but in order to have her eat, get all of us ready for work/daycare, and out the door on time, it meant that WE ALL woke up at 5:30am.

I got up to shower and get dressed. While I was doing that, my husband woke up LO and fed her breakfast. When I was done getting ready, I would take over breakfast and get her changed while my husband got showered and dressed. Then it was a mad dash to get everyone out the door by 6:30am (for my husband to drop off LO and then catch the train to work and for me to head into work early to avoid crazy traffic). It's hectic. And exhausting.

ETA: And yeah, because of this schedule, our weekends are very similar - we all get up at around 6-6:30am.

@daniellemybelle: Ideally i wash hoping to drop him off at 7-8am... and no, daycare won't beef up the snacks for you because they have 10 kids and 2 teachers in the room :(

@autumnlove: So I guess I do have to feed him for real every morning at 6:30am huh. It is just a bummer because 6:30-7am is my shower time..

It just doesn't make any sense though..... so even on the weekends, I have to feed him breakfast at 630am? Nowadays we could go out for breakfast at around 8am as a family on the weekends.... so we don't get to do that anymore?

It sounds like snack time at daycare is only a little bit later than breakfast time at home. Could you keep your normal schedule and just give him some fruit or something before you leave for daycare to tide him over until snack? Or maybe you could have the daycare providers beef up his snack with food you send to make it more of a breakfast?

Wow, when DD was in daycare they didn't start a schedule like you listed until 18m before then they let the child lead the schedule. We would drop DD off around 6:45 and they would give her a sippy cup and breakfast then lunch around 11 or so. She would get an afternoon snack but I don't recall what time that was.

DH usually gives her a sliced banana and some yogurt before he drops her off! She also gets a straw sippy of formula/breastmilk (that we will replace with milk) but she doesn't drink a lot of it and DH just brings it to daycare.

@irene: great question. I worry about this, as well since I leave the house at 6:40 to get to daycare by 7!!

LO is 11 months. We have a nanny as of now, but he will be starting daycare in 2 weeks! Yikes!

At daycare, they will offer the following:
8:45am Snack (crackers and stuff)
11:15am Lunch (we either order or pack lunch for him)
3:45 pm Snack

As of now, this is our schedule:
630am bottle (usually i'd put him back to bed while I get ready)
800am breakfast
1115am lunch or bottle
1pm bottle or lunch
3:30pm bottle
5:00 dinner
7:15 bottle

So at the pediatrician's today, I asked if I need to give him something before we send him off to daycare. The ped said instead of the bottle, I should give him breakfast first thing in the morning before he is off to daycare....! Which means I should get all ready at 630am and give him breakfast?! For real?

How do you do it and/or if you have any suggestion for our situation?
